Blockchain game studio Proof of Play announces cessation of operations, open-sourcing all code and art assets

According to an official announcement, a16z-backed blockchain gaming studio Proof of Play announced it is officially ceasing operations, stating that it failed to create a sustainable business model to validate the core thesis that blockchain games drive the decentralized internet. The company decided to open-source all of its Pirate Nation game code, smart contracts, and art IP, and license them under the CC0 license for future developers to use. Additionally, internal AI-assisted development tools will also be open-sourced.
