Project Overview
Pirate Nation is a new type of game, filled with high seas adventure, treasure, fun, and unexpected surprises. Players collect and send pirates on adventures where they collect materials for crafting, treasures, and pirate gold. Pirates gain experience and can level up from their many adventures. The game is being developed by Proof of Play, a game studio and blockchain technology company rolled into one.

Odaily News: a16z-backed blockchain game developer Proof of Play will cease operations, citing the failure to build a sustainable business around its vision for decentralized gaming. According to an official announcement, a16z-backed blockchain gaming studio Proof of Play announced it is officially ceasing operations, stating that it failed to create a sustainable business model to validate the core thesis that blockchain games drive the decentralized internet. The company decided to open-source all of its Pirate Nation game code, smart contracts, and art IP, and license them under the CC0 license for future developers to use. Additionally, internal AI-assisted development tools will also be open-sourced.
