According to Bloomberg, Michele Spagnuolo, a software engineer at Google, has been charged in U.S. federal court in New York for allegedly engaging in insider trading on the prediction market platform Polymarket. The indictment states that he placed bets on a popular internet search-related contract from last year, earning over $1 million in profits. Spagnuolo, 36, appeared before a judge and was released on a $2.25 million bond. This case has once again drawn attention to the risks of insider trading in prediction markets.
