Michael Saylor: Publishes 110-Point Article Opposing Bitcoin BIP-110

Odaily Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor published a 110-point article opposing the proposed Bitcoin soft fork BIP-110. BIP-110 plans to tighten Bitcoin's consensus rules within about a year, restricting the technology used for embedding arbitrary data, targeting non-financial data such as Ordinals and inscriptions. Michael Saylor stated that BIP-110 would invalidate currently valid transactions that pay fees through consensus changes, and claimed that Bitcoin cannot differentiate data intent. He believes that including a specific use case within the consensus layer restrictions would set a governance precedent. While the specific restrictions would expire in about a year, the precedent would not disappear. He also opposed the proposal's activation design, stating it lowers the miner signaling threshold from the 95% used in earlier soft forks to 55%, and removes the option that typically allows proposals to naturally expire. Data from a proposal monitoring dashboard shows current signaling support is below 1%. The mandatory signaling window for BIP-110 is scheduled to open in August, with a target activation date around September 1st. Michael Saylor's stance aligns with Blockstream CEO Adam Back, Casa's Jameson Lopp, and Bitcoin proponent Samson Mow. Opponents include developer Luke Dashjr and the Bitcoin Knots camp.

Odaily Strategy Inc. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a chart of the company's Bitcoin purchase history and current holdings on X on July 19, with the caption "What’s next?", but did not disclose any new transactions, funding sources, or plans to increase holdings. The chart shows that the company holds 843,775 BTC, accounting for approximately 4.02% of Bitcoin's fixed supply. Based on a market price of $64,312, the holdings are worth approximately $54.28 billion. The total cumulative purchase cost is about $63.83 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,653. Strategy has not purchased any Bitcoin since June 22, and its holdings remained unchanged during the week of July 6 to July 12. During the week ending July 12, Strategy sold 4,818,781 shares of MSTR common stock, generating net proceeds of $467 million. Of this, $450 million was used to increase its U.S. dollar reserves, bringing cash reserves to $3 billion. Company data shows that these reserves can cover 20.4 months of annual preferred stock dividend obligations, totaling $1.763 billion, and support interest payments on outstanding debt. Strategy previously sold 32 BTC between May 26 and May 31, generating approximately $2.5 million. On July 5, it sold another 3,588 BTC, generating approximately $216 million. Michael Saylor Opposes BIP 110, Claims Soft Fork Threatens Bitcoin's Neutrality Rules

Odaily Strategy founder Michael Saylor published a lengthy post on July 18, listing 100 reasons to oppose BIP 110. He stated that the proposal would impose restrictions on a currently valid but controversial class of transactions through Bitcoin's consensus rules, constituting governance intervention in certain use cases. BIP 110, full name "Reduced Data Temporary Softfork," was marked as Complete on Github on June 25, 2026. The proposal is planned to run for approximately one year and introduces seven new consensus restrictions, including an 83-byte limit on OP_RETURN outputs, a 256-byte cap on certain payloads and witness items, as well as restrictions on some Taproot-related structures. Michael Saylor pointed out that BIP 110 adopts a 55% miner signaling threshold, lower than the 95% threshold in the standard BIP 9 process, and removes the regular timeout and FAILED status. He believes that using a lower threshold for controversial rule changes increases the probability of a chain split and could potentially affect miner fee revenue and long-term network security. He argued that existing Bitcoin relay and mining strategy tools already allow node operators and miners to restrict unwanted transaction types without the need to change the network's consensus rules. Michael Saylor also stated that Bitcoin's base layer should remain conservative and opposed the use of consensus soft forks to regulate controversial use cases.

Claude Adjusts Subscription Strategy Due to Compute Pressure, Fable 5 Included in High-Tier Plan with 50% Quota Limit

Claude announced that effective July 20, Fable 5 will be officially included in the Max and Team Premium subscription plans, and users will receive usage rights equivalent to 50% of the full quota. Pro and Team Standard users can still access Fable 5 by using credits and will receive a one-time $100 quota compensation. Claude stated that due to the difficulty in accurately predicting the scale of demand after Fable 5's launch, a phased rollout strategy was previously adopted, and the scope of subscriber access was expanded multiple times as compute resources increased. This process brought uncertainty to some users, so this adjustment aims to allow users to more clearly understand the model usage rights included in the subscription plans. In the future, continued investment will be made to expand compute capacity, and Fable 5's access policy will be continuously updated based on capacity conditions.

BIP-110 Bitcoin Data Limitation Proposal Nears Deadline with 0% Miner Support

the Bitcoin BIP-110 proposal is approaching its early August deadline, with miner support currently below 1%. In the current cycle, support stands at 0%, and no major mining pools have signaled in favor. BIP-110, officially titled "Reduced Data Temporary Soft Fork," aims to restrict OP_RETURN data capacity within one year, prohibit most arbitrary data writes exceeding 256 bytes, and limit certain script formats primarily used for data storage. Strategy founder Michael Saylor and Blockstream co-founder Adam Back have both publicly opposed BIP-110. Data shows that BIP-110 adopts a user-activated soft fork mechanism, setting a 55% miner signal threshold. The proportion of nodes running BIP-110 software remains in the single digits, primarily from Bitcoin Knots users. The current signaling cycle for this proposal is expected to end near block height 959,615, entering a voluntary lock-in period around early August, with activation planned for approximately September. If broad support remains absent by then, it could lead to a small number of nodes forming a split chain.

Standard Chartered: Maintains Bitcoin Price Forecast of $100,000 by End of 2026

Odaily Odaily Planet Daily reported that Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at Standard Chartered, stated that the market has misinterpreted Michael Saylor's adjustments to Strategy Inc.'s bitcoin strategy, and the recent selling pressure stems from confusion over this strategy rather than a change in bitcoin's long-term outlook. Strategy Inc. is shifting bitcoin from being a reserve accumulation asset to serving as collateral to support its STRC preferred stock. Kendrick maintains the bitcoin price forecast of $100,000 by the end of 2026. As of press time, BTC was trading at $64,322.89, and Strategy's stock MSTR closed at $94.64 on Friday. The outstanding notional value of STRC is approximately $10 billion, which Kendrick believes makes the preferred stock heavily overcollateralized due to its bitcoin backing. (Bitcoin.com News).

Standard Chartered Maintains Bitcoin $100,000 Target: Strategy's BTC Sales Not a Sign of Risk Deterioration

Standard Chartered stated that it maintains its Bitcoin price prediction of reaching $100,000 by the end of 2026, believing that the recent market decline triggered by Strategy's (formerly MicroStrategy) related activities is not due to a deterioration in the company's balance sheet, but rather a strategic adjustment that the market has not fully understood.Geoffrey Kendrick, Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, noted in a report that Strategy's recent behavior is disrupting short-term market expectations for Bitcoin. The market had previously accepted the company's narrative of "never selling Bitcoin," but now Strategy appears to be shifting towards a more complex capital operation model. How clearly the company can communicate this change will determine when market pressure eases.Currently, Strategy holds 843,775 Bitcoins, representing approximately over 4% of the total 21 million Bitcoin supply. From 2020 to mid-2025, Strategy's mNAV (Market Value of Enterprise / Bitcoin Asset Value) was consistently above 1, allowing the company to raise funds through stock issuances to purchase Bitcoin and achieve shareholder value growth. The commitment to "never selling Bitcoin" was central to this model gaining market acceptance. However, with the current mNAV approaching 1, the leverage effect of this financing model is weakening.Kendrick believes Strategy is transitioning from a "Bitcoin accumulation tool" to a "Bitcoin credit support tool." This involves using its Bitcoin holdings as the credit basis for its perpetual preferred stock, STRC. Currently sized at approximately $10 billion, STRC is the largest financial instrument launched by Strategy, offering an annualized dividend rate of 12%, paid semi-monthly in cash, and is designed to maintain a price near its $100 par value through interest rate adjustment mechanisms.Standard Chartered indicated that STRC is currently trading around $90, while Strategy's dollar reserve for paying dividends stands at approximately $2.55 billion, covering an estimated 17.4 months of dividend expenses.Kendrick stated that Strategy's policy adjustment allowing for Bitcoin sales does not necessarily mean the company will continuously sell. He believes that as long as the market believes the new capital structure arrangement can stabilize the STRC price, Strategy may not actually need to sell Bitcoin. He compared this mechanism to a central bank's commitment to "do whatever it takes": mere restoration of market confidence may mean actual intervention never occurs. (The Block)

Strategy Plans to Support $1 Billion Preferred Stock Buyback Through $1.25 Billion Bitcoin Monetization Program

on June 29, Strategy raised the annualized dividend of STRC to 12% and authorized a $1 billion buyback plan covering four preferred securities: STRC, STRF, STRD, and STRK, with STRC as the initial priority repurchase target. Strategy disclosed that the buyback funds will not come from its approximately $2.55 billion cash reserve, but may instead come from the concurrently approved $1.25 billion Bitcoin monetization program. STRC traded in the mid-to-high $80 range this week, dipping below $85 on some trading days, falling short of Strategy's long-term trading target of $99 to $100. Peter Schiff stated that prices below $87 for STRC indicate Wall Street's skepticism regarding the pace of Bitcoin growth. (Bitcoin.com News).
