According to Korean media Daum, volatility in the South Korean stock market has recently intensified, investor risk appetite has clearly cooled, and funds are flowing back from the stock market to safe-haven assets such as banks. Due to adjustments in the semiconductor sector and stricter regulation on leveraged investment, idle funds in the South Korean stock market are withdrawing rapidly, and the market is exhibiting a phenomenon of "reverse capital migration". Data shows that as of the end of July, the time deposit balance at South Korea's five major banks (KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Hana, Woori, NH Nonghyup) reached 973.49 trillion won, an increase of 24.09 trillion won from the end of the previous month, marking the largest single-month increase this year. Funds related to the stock market also showed significant contraction. According to data from the Korea Financial Investment Association, investor securities account deposits (idle funds for stock trading) reached a historical high of 139.69 trillion won on June 4, but as of July 28, had fallen to 107.20 trillion won, a decrease of over 32 trillion won in less than two months. The balance of credit transaction financing, representing the scale of market margin trading, fell to 33.19 trillion won during the same period, a decrease of about 4.5 trillion won from the peak of 37.72 trillion won set on July 2, a decline of approximately 12%.
ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) claimed the title of "king of stocks" on its first day of listing on the A-share market, also bringing substantial book-value gains to the five major state-owned banks that indirectly hold shares in the company. It is understood that the five major state-owned banks primarily participated in CXMT's investment through their financial asset investment companies (AICs): Agricultural Bank of China directly holds approximately 0.95% via its subsidiary, ABC Financial Asset Investment, making it the largest investor among the banking AICs; China Construction Bank directly holds about 0.83% through CCB Financial Asset Investment, while also holding additional shares indirectly through CCB International and CCB Leading, bringing its total stake to approximately 1.7% after look-through consolidation, the highest proportion among the five state-owned banks; Industrial and Commercial Bank of China holds approximately 0.64% through ICBC Financial Asset Investment's ICBC Rongjin Investment; Bank of Communications holds about 0.38% through BOCOM Financial; and Bank of China holds approximately 0.38% through BOC Asset.Analysis suggests that banks are likely to place their CXMT equity holdings under FVTPL accounts (financial assets measured at fair value through profit or loss). Assuming the last pre-IPO capital increase price of RMB 2.63 per share as the benchmark, the book values for each bank are approximately RMB 2.46 billion for CCB, RMB 1.5 billion for ABC, RMB 1.01 billion for ICBC, RMB 600 million each for BOC and BOCOM, and RMB 460 million for China Merchants Bank. Under different scenarios simulating CXMT's total market capitalization ranging from RMB 1 trillion to 7 trillion after listing, the equity appreciation portion accounts for approximately 0.3% to 10% of the six banks' 2025 revenues. According to Korean media Asiae, six top Silicon Valley VC firms, including Sequoia Capital, a16z, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and NEA, announced the signing of a strategic investment cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the South Korean National Pension Service (NPS), planning to jointly explore investment opportunities, share investment information, and strengthen their global venture capital layout. Additionally, with the South Korean government accelerating policies to attract overseas venture capital, coupled with the launch of the 200 trillion won "National Growth Fund," the market expects the Korean venture capital sector to see simultaneous inflows of policy funds, private capital, and overseas capital, with strategic industries such as AI and semiconductors expected to receive more investment. However, industry insiders warn that if a large amount of capital concentrates on a few popular enterprises, it may push up corporate valuations and create bubbles, potentially facing valuation correction pressure during future IPO and M&A exits, affecting fund return rates.
CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler pointed out in a weekly report analysis that the US 10-year Treasury yield has recently risen to approximately 4.7%, approaching the upper limit of the range over the past five years. The high-interest rate environment is tightening financial conditions, raising financing costs and asset discount rates, and increasing pressure on risk assets.
Odaily News, Strive Vice President Joe Burnett posted on X platform, stating that BTC's break-even annualization is often difficult to understand, and it's important to grasp why. The market generally holds three types of views on Bitcoin: Bullish Bitcoin investors believe Bitcoin will appreciate significantly; if they can borrow long-term capital at a cost below 20% and anticipate Bitcoin's future compound annual growth rate will exceed that level, they are willing to finance the purchase of more Bitcoin. Neutral Bitcoin investors require a much lower hurdle rate of return for Bitcoin. According to Michael Saylor's post, if Bitcoin grows by only 3.3% annually, they could sustainably pay current dividends through Bitcoin capital gains. This is a different bet from expecting Bitcoin to grow at a compound rate of over 20%. For context, the historical annual growth rate of the US dollar M2 money supply is around 7%. BTC is a scarce monetary asset with a long-term supply growth rate of 0%. Therefore, buyers of digital credit don't need to be extremely bullish on Bitcoin; they primarily need to believe that Bitcoin won't die out and will roughly keep pace with dollar inflation. This audience is much broader. Joe Burnett stated this might already be the current global consensus view on Bitcoin. Bearish Bitcoin investors can also express their views by shorting Bitcoin or shorting Amplified Bitcoin. Currently, capital has three clear ways to express its view: Bullish on Bitcoin can hold Bitcoin and Amplified Bitcoin; Neutral on Bitcoin can hold Digital Credit; Bearish on Bitcoin can short Bitcoin or Amplified Bitcoin. Every major capital allocator now has a Bitcoin-related tool matching their worldview, and this is how over $1 quadrillion in global capital begins to flow into Bitcoin.
South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix is set to list on the Nasdaq this Friday, becoming another highly anticipated large-cap tech company to debut in the US, following SpaceX. It is reported that SK Hynix plans to raise approximately $28 billion through an American Depositary Receipt (ADR) offering. As one of Nvidia's key suppliers, SK Hynix primarily produces High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), DRAM, and NAND flash products, with its business benefiting from the growing storage demand driven by the expansion of AI infrastructure.Market analysts believe that SK Hynix's US listing will serve as a crucial test of investor appetite for the next wave of AI technology IPOs. Over the past 12 months, its shares listed in South Korea have surged approximately 770%, outperforming rival Micron Technology's roughly 700% gain during the same period. SK Hynix's listing reflects the AI industry's investment fever spreading from large-scale models and computing chips to the storage and semiconductor supply chain. The market expects the second half of 2026 could see more waves of major IPOs from AI and tech companies. (Fortune)

The concentrated trades were bear put spreads for end-of-May, involving $75,000/$71,000 strikes, with a total notional value of nearly $200 million. Investors are leveraging the rebound to build defensive positions for the last ten days of the month.Overall, the market leans towards hedging against a pullback but does not anticipate a crash. May and June have traditionally been considered unfavorable months for the market. This month, major investors have been consistently increasing their defensive positions: buying effective protection, selling tail risk financing, and controlling costs.
Odaily Odaily News Gate Research recently released its "April 2026 Cryptocurrency Market Review" report, indicating that the overall cryptocurrency market saw a volatile upward trend in April, with total market capitalization significantly higher than in March. BTC and ETH ETF trading volumes maintained high volatility overall. The report shows continued divergence in activity across major public chain ecosystems. Solana's daily transaction volume remained in the range of approximately 90 million to 110 million transactions, maintaining its leading position.Regarding trending sectors, the report notes that Pokemon TCG RWA has become one of the fastest-growing on-chain RWA sub-sectors, entering a second explosive growth phase in April. Major trading platforms saw monthly trading volumes exceed $220 million, with weekly revenue briefly approaching $6 million, setting new historical records. Meanwhile, Aave experienced its most severe liquidity crisis ever in April, with TVL outflows reaching tens of billions of dollars within a few days and net outflows exceeding $9 billion for the entire month. In terms of fundraising and security incidents, the Web3 industry completed 51 financing rounds in April, totaling approximately $834 million, with capital further concentrating on leading financial and infrastructure tracks. Among these, Payward ranked first for the month with a $200 million financing round. On the security front, Web3 security incidents in April resulted in losses of approximately $306 million, a month-over-month increase of about 858%, primarily driven by a single cross-chain infrastructure attack on Kelp DAO worth approximately $293 million. The report suggests that against the backdrop of a recovering market, on-chain activity and capital liquidity are both increasing simultaneously. However, the security risks associated with cross-chain infrastructure and high-leverage protocols remain worthy of continued attention.
