Mantle officially launches USDG and becomes a partner of Global Dollar Network

According to official announcements, Mantle has announced that USDG, a US dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos, has officially launched, becoming one of the first native stablecoins on the Mantle network. This integration establishes Mantle as a partner of the Global Dollar Network (GDN). Mantle will directly participate in GDN's reward-sharing mechanism, standing alongside over 150 partners, including Robinhood and Kraken, to drive user growth. As one of the few stablecoins subject to dual regulation under both the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the European Union's MiCA framework, USDG currently has a circulating value exceeding $3.5 billion. One of Mantle's missions is to introduce more institutional-grade assets, including tokenized equities, yield-bearing stablecoins, and tokenized funds, thereby providing borderless investment access for everyone. The integration of USDG will further advance Mantle's development into an open financial network bridging institutional players and users. According to reports, the addition of USDG further enriches Mantle's existing portfolio of institutional-grade assets, which includes Agora's AUSD, Ethena's USDe, Ondo's USDY, and Tether's USDT0, among others. Ethena announces four ecosystem adjustments: buyback of early investor tokens and plans to use revenue to repurchase ENA

Odaily News, stablecoin protocol Ethena has announced four ecosystem updates, including buying back some locked tokens from early investors, adjusting the relationship between tokens and equity, launching a revenue buyback mechanism, and canceling VC monthly unlocks. The Ethena Foundation stated that it has completed buybacks of locked ENA tokens from certain large seed round investors who had sold ENA over the past nine months. At the same time, the Ethena Foundation has entered into a master framework agreement with Ethena Labs, transferring the intellectual property and value generated by the protocol to the Foundation, governed by ENA token holders, ensuring that protocol value growth does not result in residual cash flows flowing to Labs equity investors. In addition, an Ethena governance proposal has been launched to enable a "fee switch" that would use net income generated from various business lines under the Ethena brand for programmatic buybacks of ENA tokens. The proposal has been approved by the Risk Committee.Ethena also announced the cancellation of monthly unlock arrangements for future VC investors, eliminating market concerns about sustained sell pressure by releasing unvested tokens; team tokens will still follow the original lock-up and vesting schedule. These adjustments are aimed at further strengthening the binding relationship between ENA tokens and protocol value.

Ground COO: DeFi is Losing Its Way, Yield Wars Overlook Users' Real Needs

Odaily News, Ground COO Stephanie Vaughan stated that the current DeFi industry is陷入 a "yield war," but market participants are more focused on securing distribution access to fintech platforms, overlooking the real problems users need to solve. She pointed out that Robinhood, Coinbase, Revolut, and Kraken are competing for user funds, while protocols such as Aave, Morpho, and Ethena are competing to become the infrastructure for lending strategies. Vault service providers and risk management institutions are also competing around fintech platforms. However, this model does not establish DeFi's own user relationships—it merely fights for the opportunity to be selected by platforms.Stephanie believes that the current market is signaling that DeFi products have near-zero pricing power. Much of the yield comes from subsidies provided by platforms, Vault service providers, strategy providers, or underlying protocols, rather than genuine demand created by the products themselves. This is more like paying "shelf fees" than achieving true distribution capabilities. She further noted that some multi-strategy Vaults suffer from issues such as idle capital, deployment delays, and slow governance processes, resulting in a gap between the actual returns users receive and the advertised APY. In contrast, traditional financial products like money market funds can put capital to work immediately.Stephanie stated that with declining L2 costs and maturing cross-chain infrastructure, the chain itself is no longer a core competitive advantage. In the future, DeFi should build products closer to personal execution environments, driven by user needs. She believes the competitive focus should shift from shared Vaults to infrastructure like MPC wallets, allowing users to retain control over strategies while platforms handle execution and streamline processes.
