Core PCE Inflation Rate May Be Revised Down by 0.2 Percentage Points; US BEA to Adjust Some Calculation Methods for PCE

Odaily Planet Daily reported that the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) recently announced adjustments to some calculation methods for the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE). The relevant changes are expected to be reflected in the data revision scheduled for release on September 30, 2026. Market estimates broadly indicate that this adjustment will likely lower the core PCE inflation rate by approximately 0.2 percentage points. Current data shows that over the 12 months ending May 2026, core PCE inflation stood at 3.4%, remaining above the Federal Reserve's 2% target since March 2021. The BEA's primary adjustments this time focus on three specific sectors: portfolio management and investment advisory services, computer software and accessories, and legal services, modifying their respective price calculation methods.Former Federal Reserve Governor Miran stated in a speech last December that "some of what should have been recorded as an increase in the quantity of service consumption has instead been recorded as a price increase." In May of this year, Miran, along with Fed economists Alessandro Barbarino and Anthony M. Diercks, published a paper analyzing the shortcomings of existing statistical methods, including issues with the measurement of products like portable storage devices and video games. JPMorgan economist Abiel Reinhart remarked, "‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ might also have a chance to influence the U.S. Treasury yield curve."

Intel hikes prices on some PC and server CPUs, Xeon 6980P suggested price rises to $13,955

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Intel adjusted the prices of its PC and server processors on the 3rd. The prices of the Core Ultra 200S Plus and Xeon 6 processors, launched at the end of March, have been increased, while the prices of the Core Ultra 200S processors, released in 2024, have been slightly reduced. The suggested price of the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus has been raised by $50 from its launch price of $299 to $349, and the price of the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus has been increased by $30 to $229. Prices for the server-grade Xeon 6 processors have been raised by up to several thousand dollars, with the suggested price of the Xeon 6980P rising to $13,955. Intel stated that this price adjustment reflects the current market environment, rising supply chain costs, and strong demand for specific product lines. (ZDNet Korea Semiconductor).

Vitalik: Ethereum to Enter an Era of Slimming in the Next 5 Years, with Anti-Quantum and Privacy as Primary Goals

Vitalik Buterin stated on platform X that Ethereum researchers have finalized the "Ethereum Slimming" roadmap during a recent meeting in Berlin. This roadmap is not a single upgrade but a series of forks spanning 3 to 4 years. Starting from the "I-star" fork, it will become the third major phase of Ethereum and will replace most core components. Core changes include shifting verification from direct execution to recursive STARKs, introducing 1 to 2 rounds of finality in consensus, multi-dimensional gas pricing, and completely replacing existing schemes with quantum-resistant cryptography. In terms of the state model, the current dynamic state will only expand to approximately 2TB, while new scalable states such as UTXO and ring buffers will be introduced, with a total size potentially reaching 100TB, suitable for ERC20, NFTs, and DeFi. After rewriting, transaction fees can be reduced by more than 10 times; complex applications like Uniswap pools will retain their old state without mandatory migration. Privacy will be elevated to a first-class design goal, with all new components required to support quantum-resistant, intermediary-free private transactions. Formal verification will be fully deployed, and the exploration of introducing RISC-V or leanISA as the underlying protocol VM will be undertaken. The EVM may transition into a compilation-layer feature in the future. Gas limits, Blob capacity, and block times will be increased multiple times over the next 5 years, with the Glasterdam fork first raising the gas limit. Regarding the fork order, the H-star Hegota fork will be the last "pre-slimming" fork, after which the era of slimming will begin.

QCP: Market focus is shifting from the “signing-related positive news” of multiple macro events to the subsequent execution risks.

According to the latest macro-trend report released by QCP Group, market focus is shifting from the “signing-related optimism” surrounding multiple macro events toward post-signing execution risks. The U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been formally signed; Brent crude oil prices have retreated below USD 80 per barrel, easing tail risks. However, traffic volume through the Strait of Hormuz remains at just 14 transits—well below normal levels—and a 60-day technical negotiation window has now opened. Market pricing is pivoting toward actual tanker flow volumes and progress on compliance with the Lebanon ceasefire. The Federal Reserve unanimously held interest rates steady at 3.50%–3.75%, but signaled its intention to keep rates higher for longer. The median dot-plot projection for 2026 was raised to 3.8% (up from 3.4%), with the range widened to 3.4%–4.4%; forward guidance was simultaneously scrapped. Core PCE inflation forecasts stand at 3.30%, and headline PCE at 3.82%—both above target—confirming that inflation—not growth—remains the primary constraint. Following its IPO, SpaceX’s stock price has declined approximately 27% from its peak of USD 211 to USD 155, yet it remains 14.5% above its IPO price of USD 135. Market narrative has shifted from IPO momentum to AI financing logic: its USD 20 billion note issuance is earmarked to refinance an xAI bridge loan, while the ~USD 60 billion Anysphere/Cursor transaction converts equity into acquisition currency. SpaceX is now being integrated into the AI capital formation cycle. In the crypto market, S

“White-Haired Stock God” Serenity: Continuous-Wave Lasers Could Become Core Bottleneck for AI Optical Interconnects; Related Assets Hold Strategic Value

“White-Haired Stock God” Serenity stated on X platform that he believes the "photonics theme + continuous-wave (CW) laser bottleneck" is one of the most important investment directions in the current AI infrastructure field.Serenity pointed out that the market seems to have overlooked Lumentum's (LITE) market cap growth from about $30 billion in 2024 to over $65 billion, with the core reason being the EML laser supply bottleneck driven by NVIDIA and changes in the optical network architecture. He believes the market is currently experiencing a similar logic, where continuous-wave lasers, 1.6T optical modules, and CPO (Co-Packaged Optics) architecture have become the focus of a new round of industrial upgrades. As NVIDIA continues to sign long-term supply agreements, AMD and other cloud service providers are competing for supply chain resources for continuous-wave lasers and optical components.Serenity cited Goldman Sachs research, stating that the total addressable market (TAM) for the optical communications market could grow to $154 billion by 2028, while the CPO market size is expected to surge from nearly zero to $91 billion within the next two and a half years. He stated that companies including Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI), SIVE, and other continuous-wave laser-related enterprises all hold strategic value, and believes the market may once again replicate the investment opportunities brought by the EML laser supply crunch. He is currently focusing on related assets in the continuous-wave laser supply chain, such as SOI, Tower Semiconductor (TSEM), and SIVE.

Bittensor Co-Founder: Core governance remains centralized for now, with the goal of further decentralization to be achieved in approximately 18 months.

Trezor Exec: Putting All Bitcoin into ETFs Might Be the Worst Outcome for the Industry, Undermining the Core Principle of Self-Custody

: Danny Sanders, Chief Business Officer of hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor, stated that "putting everything into ETFs" might be the worst development path for the Bitcoin ecosystem. Since the launch of US spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024, cumulative inflows have exceeded $53 billion, making them a significant driver of BTC prices, but also potentially altering the structure of how users hold their assets.Sanders believes that over-reliance on ETFs will weaken Bitcoin's core principle of "self-custody," gradually shifting asset control to third-party institutions instead of users holding their private keys. Although self-custody carries risks such as lost seed phrases or unrecoverable private key leaks, he considers these more of a psychological barrier than a technical challenge, adding that "it's not difficult once you actually start doing it."Data shows that out of approximately 600 million crypto users globally, only about 10% practice self-custody, and only around 12 to 13 million users employ hardware wallets. As an early hardware wallet provider in the industry, Trezor helped popularize the BIP-39 seed phrase standard and continues to advocate for lowering the barriers to self-custody through improved user experience and educational tools, rather than relying on intermediary custody.Sanders concluded that the industry's long-term goal should be to gradually approach a Web2-level user experience, rather than simply replacing self-custody with ETFs. "That would probably be the worst possible outcome for the entire industry." (The Block)

David Sacks responds to Anthropic “security controversy” triggering regulation: Core conflict is unpatched vulnerability

David Sacks, co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, responded to the regulatory implications of the Anthropic “security controversy,” stating that he has communicated with multiple parties regarding the current situation at Anthropic. He concluded that the core of the event lies in the security controversy sparked by its newly released model “Fable” (the commercial version of the Mythos-class models). Although Anthropic publicly stated the vulnerability was “not severe,” the U.S. government and testers disagreed with this assessment, believing it was significant enough to impact the model's security, even involving “cyber weapons operability” risks.David Sacks further criticized that Anthropic has long emphasized “safety first,” yet in this instance, it was more inclined to keep the consumer version continuously online rather than prioritizing the repair of the security issue. He stated this matter should not be conflated with previous defense or regulatory controversies and noted that the U.S. government still recognizes Anthropic's technical capabilities. The current problem “could have been resolved quickly, the ball is in Anthropic's court.”

EIP-8182 proposes introducing native privacy transfers on Ethereum in the Hegotá hard fork

Ethereum developers are evaluating EIP-8182, a proposal that plans to introduce native privacy transfers for ETH and ERC-20 tokens via the Hegotá hard fork. The proposal was created by Facet co-founder Tom Lehman on March 3, 2026, and is classified as a Draft Standards Track Core EIP. It has not yet been finalized or scheduled for inclusion in an upgrade.Hegotá is the next upgrade following Glamsterdam and is expected to focus on infrastructure and protocol layer improvements. The core of EIP-8182 is to create a canonical shielded pool system contract at the protocol layer, where users can deposit ETH or ERC-20 tokens and spend them using zero-knowledge proofs. Felix Protocol Announces Shutdown of HIP-3 DEX, Refocusing on Core Lending Business After Competitive Setback

Charlie (@0xBroze), co-founder of the Felix Protocol, announced that Felix’s HIP-3 DEX and all spot markets will begin shutting down on June 19 and complete shutdown by June 20; all traders must close their active positions before then. In its post-mortem analysis, the Felix team noted that competitor TradeXYZ successfully established a growth flywheel and gained market dominance by launching earlier, pricing in USDC (rather than Felix’s USDH), rapidly expanding the number of markets, and leveraging airdrop-driven brand effects. Although Felix launched first in markets such as OIL, GOLD, and SILVER—and recorded approximately $3 billion in trading volume—it was ultimately overtaken by TradeXYZ. Felix emphasized that the DEX shutdown will not affect its lending or spot stock trading businesses, and the team will continue focusing on upgrading and iterating these core products.

Joe Lubin: Ethereum Foundation Layoffs and Restructuring Are Not a Crisis; Focus Will Shift to Core Technologies like AI Agents

Odaily, Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joe Lubin stated that the recent layoffs, budget cuts, and leadership changes at the Ethereum Foundation are not a crisis, but a necessary evolution of the organization. In an interview, Lubin pointed out that the Ethereum Foundation should focus on safeguarding core protocol technology and values, while tasks such as adoption, ecosystem expansion, and institutional collaboration should be undertaken by other entities. Maintaining neutrality and credibility is crucial to avoid conflicts between commercial interests and developers. He noted a public misunderstanding of the Foundation's role: the EF's responsibility is to maintain the Ethereum protocol, not to lead commercialization or market competition strategies.Lubin also stated that the future of Ethereum will be shaped by multiple organizations working together to build the ecosystem, rather than relying on a single entity for leadership. He dismissed claims that Ethereum is on the decline, saying the network is still developing steadily, and pointed out that years of scaling efforts are laying the groundwork for the next wave of adoption, including on-chain transactions by autonomous AI agents and increased institutional usage. The Ethereum Foundation is narrowing its focus precisely to ensure the protocol can support a new generation of applications, while new organizations will take on the work of promotion and commercialization.Lubin noted that the next wave is the agent economy, where hybrid human-machine systems will use Ethereum's infrastructure for transactions. The restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation is a healthy institutional optimization that will help Ethereum maintain robust development under the premise of decentralization and prepare for future technological and business innovations. FTSE Russell Adjusts IPO Inclusion Rules, Large New Listings Can Quickly Join Core Indices

Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, disclosed on X platform that the FTSE Russell Governance Committee has approved adjustments to the fast-entry IPO rules and index minimum admission standards, which received broad support after completing market consultation.According to the latest methodology updates, the rules take immediate effect: when an IPO's investable market capitalization exceeds the market-adjusted total capitalization threshold of the Russell Top 500 Index at the last rebalancing, the IPO becomes eligible for fast entry evaluation into the index. This threshold will be adjusted quarterly on a market basis, initially set against the semi-annual rebalancing. This adjustment aims to enhance the index's responsiveness to large newly listed companies, enabling them to be incorporated into the main benchmark index system more quickly, thereby improving index representativeness and market adaptability.

Squid: Security Incident Unrelated to Squid Core Protocol and Contracts; All Squid Users and Integrators Unaffected

Odaily news Squid posted on X platform, stating that this incident is unrelated to the Squid core protocol and contracts. All Squid users and integrators are unaffected and no action is required.Today, a third-party Gnosis Safe module on the Base and Ethereum networks was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $3.2 million. The vulnerable contract is verified on Basescan under the name "SquidRouterModule," but this contract was not built, deployed, or operated by Squid. It is a third-party smart wallet product that chose to integrate with Squid and other protocols, and has no connection with Squid. The attack principle is that this third-party module accepts a constant string provided by the caller as a message security proof. This string is publicly visible in the verified contract code. By inputting this string, the attacker could execute arbitrary calldata arrays and freely steal funds. The victim's Safe wallet had added this problematic contract as a trusted Safe Module, allowing the contract to control any tokens within the Safe without requiring a signature. Squid's own router contract (0xce16...D666) has a different architecture and was unaffected. Squid users' funds, authorizations, and integrations are completely safe.Early public reports may have mentioned "SquidRouter" due to the contract verification name on Basescan. The accurate description should be: a third-party SquidRouterModule was attacked, not Squid's Router contract. This contract shares the name with Squid, but it is not Squid's code. Squid is continuously monitoring the situation and will provide updates if there are any significant changes.

Anza, Core Development Team of Solana: Recommends Solana Mainnet Validators to Use Agave 4.0

Anza, a core Solana development team, announced that it has recommended Solana mainnet validators upgrade to Agave 4.0. This release includes XDP for Turbine, TPU transaction ingestion exclusively over QUIC, faster replay stages, and a suite of feature-gated SIMD instructions set to activate during this cycle. Production environment results from large mainnet validators show Turbine retransmission latency has dropped from 600 ms to approximately 0.8 ms.
