South Korean stock index volatility rises above 60%, surpassing Bitcoin

Source: www.bloomberg.com
According to Bloomberg reports, although the South Korean stock market has achieved significant gains this year, volatility has significantly intensified. The volatility of the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (Kospi) has exceeded 60%, nearly twice that of Japan's Nikkei 225 Index, and even higher than Bitcoin. Affected by the severe volatility, the Korea Exchange has triggered the circuit breaker mechanism 7 times this year as of mid-July, whereas it was not triggered in 2025, and only 1 time in 2024.
