According to Cryptopolitan, Euronext halted trading of CoinShares' newly launched Zcash ETP (code ZCSH) on the Paris market on October 28, just hours after its listing. An Euronext spokesperson stated that the suspension was due to the central securities depository (CSD) temporarily being unable to support standard settlement operations, rather than any regulatory issue, and the product will resume once settlement conditions are met.

Bankless Founder: Lighter (LIT) Market Rally Is Back

Odaily reports: Bankless founder David Hoffman reposted Lighter's regulatory update on X and wrote: "Lighter season back on btw."During Lighter's Q3 investor call held last night via webcast, David Hoffman, speaking as an investor, asked: "Given that Lighter has already had extensive prior communication with the CFTC (U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission), do you expect the approval of the DCM (Designated Contract Market) and DCO (Derivatives Clearing Organization) licenses to come earlier than the CFTC's stipulated 180-day review period?"Lighter founder and CEO Vladimir Novakovski responded: "We believe that the extensive prior communication will make the whole process much smoother... The CFTC currently has a lot on its plate, so we can't give an exact timeline yet... However, the CFTC is a fast-moving team internally, so we expect the overall approval process to go relatively smoothly."Previously, David Hoffman reportedly sold all his ETH and rotated into tokens such as LIT, ZEC, and NEAR, with the rotated tokens subsequently significantly outperforming ETH.

Ledger attacker moved nearly 3,000 ETH via Tornado Cash and Zcash, related wallets still hold approximately $38.6 million in ETH and $16.9 million in BTC

Odaily News: According to Bitcoin News monitoring, the attacker behind the Ledger supply chain theft has moved nearly 3,000 ETH through Tornado Cash in three separate transactions, and transferred the funds into the Zcash privacy pool before converting them to USDC. Investigator @YFarmX stated that despite the use of privacy tools, they have traced 108 transactions completed through Zcash by exact value matching. An estimated $2.85 million in stolen USDC is still held in 3 wallets, and Circle may be able to freeze the related funds. Meanwhile, Tether is reported to have frozen $10 million in stolen USDT; wallets associated with the attacker still hold approximately $38.6 million in ETH and $16.9 million in BTC.

Winklevoss Files Spot Zcash ETF Application with U.S. SEC, Plans Nasdaq Listing

According to Crypto Unfolded, Winklevoss Asset Services has filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a spot ETF directly holding Zcash (ZEC), with plans to list it on the Nasdaq exchange. Previously, Grayscale launched the Zcash investment product ZCSH in August 2025, which currently manages over $900 million in assets and carries a management fee of 2.5%. The report notes that after a significant rally earlier this year, ZEC is currently trading at approximately $1,350. The new spot ETF filing may further expand avenues for institutional investors to gain exposure to privacy coins, but given the regulatory scrutiny these assets face, it remains uncertain whether the product will receive approval.

Bitget hacker transfers $3.9 million in ZEC into Zcash privacy pool

Odaily reports: A wallet linked to the $387.5 million Bitget exploit transferred 2,746 ZEC into Zcash's Ironwood privacy pool on Wednesday across three transactions, worth approximately $3.9 million. The funds account for roughly 15% of the ZEC stolen on September 24. The Ironwood privacy pool can conceal the sender, recipient, and transfer amount, but investigators may still be able to trace the path of funds returning to public addresses through transaction timing and amounts. Gemini Co-founder: Zcash Hype Feels Like the 2019 Crypto Market

Odaily reports: Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss said the current market hype around privacy coin Zcash is reminiscent of the 2019 crypto market, when Bitcoin had just emerged from the 2018 bear market and market attention shifted toward institutional infrastructure and custody.Zcash launched in 2016 and uses zero-knowledge proofs to enable private transactions. It has long faced regulatory scrutiny, and some exchanges have delisted it. According to CoinGecko data, the price of ZEC rose from about $511 in January 2026 to $1,335.51 on September 16. Since receiving approval from New York State in 2018, Gemini has become the first licensed exchange to offer Zcash trading and custody services.

Xie Jiayin: Attack paths and methods have been precisely identified, and the stolen funds will be fully covered by the user protection fund.

Xie Jiayin, Head of Greater China at Bitget, announced the latest updates on the security incident, stating that the security team has accurately identified the hackers' attack vectors and methodologies, and obtained details on how the attackers bypassed security protocols. Tracing the attack back to its source is now highly imminent. Third-party security firms Mandiant and SlowMist are continuing their incident investigation and will release a detailed report subsequently. On-chain tracking confirms that approximately $387.5 million in assets were transferred to attacker addresses, an upward revision from the previously estimated $351.6 million. This adjustment simply incorporates ZEC and TRX into the total and does not indicate any new assets were stolen. No other unauthorized transfers have been detected. Bitget stated that all stolen funds at the platform level will be fully covered by the User Protection Fund, ensuring user assets remain unaffected. Bitget has also officially launched its Fund Recovery Bounty Program. Individuals or entities that voluntarily freeze or proactively retrieve attacker funds will be eligible for a 5% bounty, with prior assistance remaining eligible. The platform has published the attacker's addresses, a real-time fund tracking dashboard, and an information submission portal, and pledged to announce withdrawal times by 12:00 PM on September 26.

Privacy coin sector market cap increased by $24.54 billion over 5 months, with ZEC and XMR leading growth

Odaily News: Over the past five months, the market cap of the privacy coin sector grew from $11.97 billion to $36.51 billion, an increase of $24.54 billion, or approximately 205%. Coldcard 2021 Firmware Vulnerability Led to Over $100 Million in Bitcoin Theft

Odaily News: A 2021 firmware vulnerability in the hardware wallet Coldcard resulted in insufficient randomness in some recovered seeds. Since July 30, attackers have transferred approximately 1,600 to 1,800 BTC from affected wallets, involving thousands of addresses, with an estimated value exceeding $100 million.Coldcard manufacturer Coinkite stated that it must be assumed that someone used AI to review its public firmware. The vulnerability has existed for about five years, and whether AI was involved in the related attacks has not yet been confirmed.Shielded Labs researcher Taylor Hornby used a Claude Opus 4.8 audit agent and discovered a vulnerability in the Zcash Orchard shielded pool circuit dating back to 2022, which in testing could generate unlimited counterfeit ZEC without a trace. Developers completed the fix within days, and no theft of coins has been confirmed.Statistics from blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis show that on-chain writes carrying malware instructions and command-and-control information rose from about 2.06 per day to 11.1 per day, an increase of 440%. Grayscale Chief Legal Officer: Zcash Ecosystem Enters a New Phase of Institutionalization After Nearly a Decade of Development

Odaily News Digital asset manager Grayscale Investments' Chief Legal Officer Craig Salm stated that the company's Zcash investment product has been upgraded to the world's first Zcash Exchange-Traded Product (ETP), marking a move of privacy-focused crypto assets into broader compliant investment channels. Following the launch of this Zcash ETP, investors can gain exposure to ZEC through SEC-registered traditional financial products. Grayscale noted that this signifies the Zcash ecosystem, after nearly a decade of development, is entering a new phase of institutionalization.Salm recalled that Grayscale launched the Zcash Investment Trust in 2018, when the ZEC trust product was just one of four products offered by the company. After years of regulatory engagement, the product was recently converted into the Zcash ETP, with the ticker symbol ZCSH. The process of bringing the Zcash product to the public market was not easy. Due to ZEC's privacy features, the company underwent greater regulatory scrutiny when launching its first publicly quoted Zcash fund in 2021, but ultimately completed the product rollout.Data shows that the adoption rate of Zcash's private transaction features has been steadily rising recently. In February 2026, ZEC shielded transactions reached an all-time high of 59.3% of total transactions, and after the latest Ironwood upgrade, it has again approached this level. Currently, the shielded pool holds approximately 4.4 million ZEC, accounting for about 26% of the circulating supply.

Grayscale launches Zcash ETF, trading on NYSE Arca following key privacy vulnerability fix

Odaily News - Digital asset manager Grayscale's Zcash ETF began trading on NYSE Arca on Tuesday under the ticker ZCSH. The product is the world's first exchange-traded product offering spot exposure to Zcash, allowing investors to track ZEC prices through securities accounts without needing to directly purchase or store the token.ZCSH was formerly known as the Grayscale Zcash Trust, established in October 2017 through a private placement. Grayscale filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in November 2025 to convert the trust into an ETF, with shareholders holding shares that track the fund's ZEC holdings rather than holding ZEC directly. In May of this year, security researcher Taylor Hornby, using Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8, discovered a vulnerability in Zcash's Orchard shielded pool that had existed for four years, which could potentially allow attackers to mint counterfeit ZEC. Developers deployed an emergency patch on June 1, but due to privacy mechanisms, it was not possible to cryptographically confirm whether the vulnerability had been exploited.Zcash activated the Ironwood upgrade in July, replacing Orchard with a new shielded pool and introducing accounting rules that limit the amount of ZEC exiting the old shielded pool to no more than the amount entering. Grayscale stated it will monitor the adoption of the Ironwood upgrade, network security, exchange support, and regulatory conditions for privacy assets. (Decrypt)

Grayscale releases research report: Zcash may see a revaluation opportunity in the privacy sector.

According to a Grayscale research report, as AI-driven financial monitoring capabilities continue to expand, the demand for financial privacy is experiencing a third wave of renewed interest, potentially benefiting Zcash (ZEC). The report notes that Zcash’s zero-knowledge proof-based shielded transaction technology conceals the sender, recipient, and transaction amount, establishing a differentiated positioning compared to Bitcoin’s transparent on-chain records. Current on-chain data shows that shielded transactions now account for approximately 90% of Zcash’s total network transaction volume, while shielded supply has reached around 4.2 million ZEC, representing 25% of the circulating supply, with both figures hitting all-time highs. In terms of valuation, ZEC holds a market capitalization of approximately $8 billion, accounting for only 0.6% of the total market cap within Grayscale's "Cryptocurrency Monetary Sector". If its market share increases to 5%, the theoretical valuation space would be roughly nine times the current level. The report also cautions that Zcash faces multiple risks, including regulatory compliance, legacy issues from historical trusted setups, quantum computing threats, and protocol upgrade execution challenges, requiring investors to conduct prudent assessments.

Cantor Fitzgerald: Bitcoin Bear Market May Be Nearing the End, Expected to Bottom Out Around October

According to CoinDesk, Wall Street bank Cantor Fitzgerald issued a research report indicating that the crypto market is entering the final phase of the current bear cycle. As of June 10, Bitcoin has declined approximately 51% from its 2025 peak, with 252 days having passed since the peak. Synthesizing the past three market cycles, BTC bottoms on average 384 days after the peak; based on this, the low point of this cycle is projected to appear around the end of October. Analysts also noted that the model is not a precise timing tool, and macro, regulatory, and geopolitical risks remain. Regarding network value assessment, Cantor believes Hyperliquid is the prime example of fee-driven token economics, Bitcoin remains the benchmark monetary asset, and Ethereum serves as the primary collateral layer for on-chain finance; Solana, Sui, XRP, and Zcash each possess differentiated advantages, but still need to prove that their ecosystem growth can translate into sustained token demand.

Arthur Hayes: Rising Oil Prices, AI-Related IPOs, and Trump's Anti-AI Rhetoric Could Pop the AI Bubble and Drag Down the Crypto Market

Odaily News, June 9th — BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes stated in his latest article "Reality Test" that if oil prices continue to rise due to the US-Iran conflict, it could trigger a collapse of the AI stock bubble and drag the entire crypto market down.Hayes said that if traffic restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz persist deep into the second quarter, spot prices for hydrocarbons and other key commodities could rise in the third quarter. If oil prices continue to climb and inflationary pressures impact the US midterm elections, Trump might pivot to a tough stance targeting data center construction, AI regulation, and taxation. Hayes believes the market could anticipate Trump limiting AI capital expenditure and taxing AI companies, thereby triggering the burst of the AI stock bubble.Hayes also noted that since November 2022, the scale of AI-related debt issuance has been approximately $1.5 trillion, and US M2 has increased by roughly the same amount during the same period. He believes the three factors that could pop the AI bubble include rising energy costs, the market's inability to absorb three major AI-related IPOs — namely SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI — and Trump's shift to opposing AI. In terms of portfolio, Hayes stated that Maelstrom's stock portfolio holds significant positions in US-listed energy producers; he has sold AI-related stocks and offloaded non-core crypto assets, having dumped HYPE, NEAR, and WLD last week, as well as selling ZEC due to the Orchard Pool vulnerability. He still holds Bitcoin and ETH and will execute tactical short trades via derivatives.

Bitwise CIO: Crypto Investment Shifting from Momentum Trading to "Contrarian Betting"

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan stated that as U.S. stocks continue to rise, AI stocks attract significant capital, and the regulatory outlook for the U.S. "Clarity Act" remains uncertain, crypto assets are transitioning from past momentum trading to longer-term fundamental "contrarian bets."Hougan pointed out that against the backdrop of the Nasdaq 100 index rising 43% year-over-year and AI concepts dominating market attention, the appeal of allocating crypto assets for institutional investors has diminished. However, this does not mean the crypto industry is disappearing; rather, the investment logic is changing, requiring a longer-term perspective and stronger fundamental judgment. He also noted that the current "crypto winter" differs from the past, as funds are no longer simply flowing into large-cap assets like Bitcoin but are beginning to reward projects with independent fundamental narratives. For instance, Hyperliquid, BNB, Zcash, and Stellar have all seen notable gains recently, indicating that the market is placing greater emphasis on the actual progress and differentiated logic of specific projects.

Zcash Foundation Q1 Report: Total Liquid Assets Reach Approximately $36.7 Million, ZEC Holdings Exceed 85,000 Coins

The Zcash Foundation released its Q1 2026 report, disclosing total liquid assets of approximately $36.7 million, including roughly $12.11 million in cash, 506,556 USDC, 85,412 ZEC (valued at ~$21.2 million), 41.8 BTC (valued at ~$2.85 million), and 12.02 ETH (valued at ~$25,000). The Zcash Foundation added that, although the first quarter of this year saw personnel changes within the Electric Coin Company’s development team and governance-related disputes, network operations remained unaffected, with transactions and block production continuing normally. On the regulatory front, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has concluded its investigation without taking any enforcement action, thereby resolving long-standing regulatory uncertainty.
