Project Overview

Zano, a privacy-centric blockchain ecosystem that was launched in 2019. Zano transactions are untraceable, leveraging ring signatures and stealth addresses. Furthermore, the Zarcanum hardfork will incorporate Confidential Assets, privacy tokens that operate on the Zano blockchain. These assets share the same privacy features as native Zano coins, allowing other developers to run their privacy-oriented projects without the overhead of maintaining their own blockchains, dealing with consensus issues, or other complexities of network operation. Zano's security is fortified by a unique hybrid PoW-PoS consensus algorithm, which is also applicable to assets. In addition to these features, Zano supports on-chain aliases, escrow contracts, and has a built-in staking system with no minimum requirements or time locks. It offers numerous features for both users and developers.

Zano's sixth hard fork goes live, native ZANO enables non-custodial cross-chain transfers to Ethereum, Solana, and TON

Privacy-focused public chain Zano activated its sixth hard fork (HF6) at block height 3,833,000 on August 31. The upgrade is now live on the mainnet, marking the largest upgrade in the network's seven-year history.HF6 introduces Gateway Addresses, providing centralized exchanges, DEXs, and cross-chain bridges with directly trackable single balances and instant synchronization, while preserving existing addresses and their privacy model. Native ZANO can now be transferred non-custodially across chains to Ethereum, Solana, and TON, where it becomes public on external networks, and privacy protection is restored upon transferring back to Zano.The upgrade also tightens consensus validation rules and enhances wallet encryption, mining pool fault tolerance, payment IDs, anti-DoS restrictions, SOCKS5 proxy, and RPC interfaces.HF6 is a prerequisite for the EVM-compatible chain Zano Execution Layer, which is currently in development and has no fixed launch date yet; the next-generation consensus protocol Zenith has been included in the 2027 roadmap. Zano plans to transition to pure PoS through Zenith in 2027, reducing block time to 15 seconds

: Privacy blockchain Zano has announced that Zenith has entered the implementation phase, with a network transition planned for 2027, subject to testing, analysis, and review results. Zano has not yet announced an activation date, and the proposed operational parameters still require verification at the network level. Zenith will transition Zano from a hybrid PoW and PoS mechanism to a privacy-preserving pure PoS protocol. The proposed block time will be reduced from approximately 1 minute to about 15 seconds, the recommended number of confirmations will be lowered from 10 blocks to 4 to 6 blocks, and the typical confirmation time will be around 60 to 90 seconds. Andrey Sabelnikov, co-founder and core developer of Zano, stated that Zenith is based on over 12 years of privacy research, aiming to provide the network with the advantages of modern PoS while retaining the privacy protections that Zano users expect. PoW miners currently receive approximately 720 newly issued ZANO per day, equivalent to around 21,600 per month and 262,800 per year. After Zenith is activated and PoW mining ends, this issuance will be discontinued. Zano has also launched the official Zano Forum for technical discussions and community support.
