According to a press release published on Ripple's official website, Aviva Investors and Ripple have announced the launch of a tokenized share class for a British pound (GBP) liquidity fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This marks the company's second existing fund to undergo tokenization, following the launch of a tokenized share class for its US dollar liquidity fund in July 2026. The GBP liquidity fund is Aviva Investors' largest fund, with approximately £22 billion in assets under management, and is registered in Ireland as a UCITS money market fund. Aviva itself has invested £50 million (approximately $66 million) into the new share class. Combined investments across both tokenized share classes exceed £86 million (approximately $116 million), making Aviva Investors one of Europe's largest providers of tokenized money market funds. The fund utilizes a "digital twin" model, representing investor holdings on-chain while preserving the off-chain fund structure. The tokenized shares carry the same investment objectives, risk characteristics, liquidity, and regulatory protections as traditional shares. The new shares are available to eligible investors holding digital wallets, and are powered by Komainu and Licuido, with assets remaining custodied by BNY Mellon.
Standard Chartered Bank has officially announced support for institutional custody services for Ripple USD (RLUSD) issued on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The service is offered through Standard Chartered Bank's DIFC branch and is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). Concurrently, Standard Chartered Bank is partnering with Ripple and LMAX Group to incorporate RLUSD into LMAX Group's eligible collateral framework for its products. Through Standard Chartered Bank's collateral mirroring model, institutional clients can flexibly deploy digital assets for trading without directly transferring RLUSD to the trading venue, thereby reducing transfer operational risks, optimizing counterparty exposure, and enhancing capital efficiency. The aforementioned functionalities will go live only after final document execution, testing, and compliance approvals are completed.
Odaily News: The XRP Ledger Foundation posted on the X platform to clarify the recent XRP Ledger security vulnerability incident, stating that the vulnerability could potentially have been used to bypass the limit that fixes XRP's total supply at 100 billion, but it was fixed two weeks ago via version 3.4.1. Furthermore, upon verification, no new XRP was found to have been created, and the total amount of XRP currently circulating on the ledger is approximately 99.986 billion. The Foundation stated that the vulnerability would have required hundreds of deliberately constructed operations to trigger, and normal payment transactions would almost never involve it. In the future, it will strengthen formal verification, AI adversarial testing, security research collaboration, and bug bounty programs with RippleX and the community. Regarding the fix process, the Foundation explained that publicly releasing a patch could allow attackers to use AI to accelerate vulnerability analysis. To address this situation, the XRPL community engaged in coordination. Participating parties including the XRP Ledger Foundation, RippleX, core developers, and validators reached a social consensus and agreed to adopt the approach of directly releasing the fix. In addition, version 3.4.1 only became a version the network was required to adopt after going through the normal amendment voting process and receiving support from more than 80% of validators for two consecutive weeks. Protocol changes still need to be completed through the amendment mechanism.Previously, RippleX engineering lead J. Ayo Akinyele also posted on the X platform, stating that he attaches great importance to the recently disclosed critical vulnerability in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) payment engine. This vulnerability is a serious security issue that has existed in the codebase for more than 10 years and could theoretically lead to the over-creation of XRP, breaking through the fixed supply cap. However, before the vulnerability could be exploited, it was discovered by the security research firm Veria AI through Ripple's bug bounty program.
Odaily News: J. Ayo Akinyele, Engineering Lead at RippleX, posted on X platform stating that they take the recently disclosed critical vulnerability in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) payment engine very seriously. The vulnerability is a severe security issue that has existed in the codebase for over 10 years and could theoretically lead to the over-creation of XRP, breaching the fixed supply cap. However, the vulnerability was discovered by security research firm Veria AI through Ripple's bug bounty program before it could be exploited.J. Ayo Akinyele further added that the Ripple team quickly developed and tested a fix, working closely with validator nodes to complete the network upgrade, and patched the vulnerability before its public disclosure. Currently, AI is changing the speed of vulnerability discovery, and XRPL needs to further enhance its security response capabilities. RippleX will strengthen its bug bounty program, expand AI-assisted vulnerability hunting and adversarial testing, review long-standing code in the payment engine, consensus mechanism, and P2P network, while advancing formal verification of critical modules and reducing potential risks through systematic security hardening. The goal is not just to fix a single vulnerability, but to identify and eliminate potential risks in XRPL's legacy code, making the network more difficult to attack.
Odaily News: Ripple and Brazil's licensed central securities depository CSD BR have brought Brazilian investment fund records onto the XRP Ledger in a regulated, real-world environment, with the first phase targeting BTG Pactual fund shares. CSD BR uses XRPL as an additional recording and auditing layer, while its own systems retain legal authority over ownership, registration, custody, and settlement, with over 22 trillion Brazilian reais in registered assets under its management. Fund shares are mapped according to the XRPL multi-purpose token standard, allowing authorized institutions to reconcile on-chain and official records in near real time; the two parties did not disclose the specific funds, scale, or trading volume.
Ripple announced strategic investments in UK fund technology company ZILO and FCA-regulated tokenized trading platform Licuido, integrating regulated digital transfer agency, asset issuance, and collateral liquidity capabilities into the XRP Ledger. Ripple stated that the relevant infrastructure will support tokenized funds as collateral from the issuance stage and enable atomic settlement via XRPL, while RLUSD can serve as the regulated cash leg in delivery versus payment transactions. The investment amount was not disclosed.
Ripple is advancing the addition of a lending infrastructure layer on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), enabling institutions to raise funds using on-chain tokenized assets as collateral. The protocol will automatically execute loan terms, while credit evaluation and lending decisions remain handled by off-chain institutions.According to disclosures, the proposal is named the XRPL Lending Protocol (corresponding to XLS-65 and XLS-66 standards). It is currently in the technical draft stage and will require approval through validator voting before launching on the mainnet, but developer testing has already been opened on the test network. The protocol’s design splits the lending process into two parts: on-chain management of liquidity pools, interest calculation, repayment execution, and default handling; while borrower credit assessment and loan term setting remain with traditional financial institutions to meet compliance requirements across different jurisdictions.Ripple states that the mechanism is primarily aimed at institutional short-term liquidity needs. For example, in cross-border payment scenarios, temporary financing through stablecoins or collateral assets can be obtained before settlement is completed, thereby improving capital efficiency.Analysts believe that while the plan attempts to introduce a “rule-enforced lending infrastructure” similar to traditional finance while maintaining XRPL's open network attributes, it will still face competition from established on-chain lending protocols such as Aave, Compound, and Maple. Bitget Wallet has launched a Labor Day QR code payment campaign, running from April 28 to May 7, further driving the adoption of stablecoin payments in everyday consumption and travel scenarios across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. During the campaign, users who complete offline QR code payments using USDT or USDC will receive RLUSD cashback for each transaction. From May 1 to May 7, Bitget Wallet will randomly select one paying user per day to receive an additional 1,000 RLUSD cashback. To lower the barrier to first-time usage, Bitget Wallet will also airdrop XRP to eligible participants—serving as the account reserve required to activate RLUSD withdrawals. RLUSD is a compliant U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Ripple and regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). This campaign marks Bitget Wallet’s first real-world consumer application following its integration of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) mainnet and onboarding of the RLUSD payment ecosystem at the end of March—and represents a key milestone in advancing Bitget Wallet’s Everyday Finance strategy.
Odaily News Ripple has announced a phased roadmap, planning to advance the XRP Ledger towards a quantum-resistant upgrade by 2028. The plan includes formulating a "Quantum-Day" contingency plan to address potential sudden threats from quantum computing and will involve preliminary testing and validation in collaboration with Project Eleven. Ripple stated that this initiative aims to prepare in advance for the transition to post-quantum security, with the entire plan to be implemented in four phases:Phase 1: Q-Day Emergency Preparedness (Initiated). Establish a Quantum Day (Q-Day) emergency response mechanism. If existing classical cryptographic systems are suddenly compromised, the network will immediately stop accepting traditional public key signatures and enforce a mandatory migration to quantum-safe accounts.Phase 2: Risk Assessment & Algorithm Testing (First Half of 2026). Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the impact of post-quantum cryptography on the XRP Ledger's network performance, storage, and bandwidth. Collaborate with Project Eleven to perform validator-level testing and Devnet benchmarking, deploy the NIST-standardized ML-DSA quantum-safe signature scheme, and develop a prototype for a post-quantum custody wallet.Phase 3: Devnet Hybrid Integration (Second Half of 2026). Integrate candidate post-quantum signature schemes in parallel with existing elliptic curve signatures on the Developer Network (Devnet), allowing developers to test performance and system impact without affecting the mainnet. Simultaneously explore post-quantum zero-knowledge proof primitives and homomorphic encryption technologies for Confidential Transfers, to advance the privacy and compliance capabilities for tokenized real-world assets on the XRPL.Phase 4: Mainnet Full Upgrade (Target 2028). Submit a formal protocol Amendment. Upon approval through validator voting, natively enable full post-quantum cryptography on the mainnet. (Cointelegraph)
According to Cointelegraph, the blockchain payment network XRP Ledger (XRPL) has partnered with zero-knowledge infrastructure provider Boundless to integrate its zero-knowledge technology into the underlying network, aiming to enable confidential and compliant on-chain transactions for banks and asset management firms. Shiv Shankar, CEO of Boundless, stated that the solution protects sensitive information—including transaction size, frequency, and counterparty details—through selective disclosure and role-based access control, while ensuring regulatory authorities can audit related activities. This integration is expected to drive adoption across multiple institutional use cases on public blockchains, including cross-border corporate payments, treasury management, over-the-counter (OTC) trading, tokenized asset issuance, and decentralized finance (DeFi). Industry observers believe that striking a balance between privacy and compliance is becoming a key factor in driving institutional adoption of public blockchains.
