Odaily reports: On October 31, 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin whitepaper, proposing a peer-to-peer electronic payment system that requires no participation from banks or central institutions. Over the past 18 years, Bitcoin has evolved from a fringe experiment on the early dark web and forums into an asset class recognized by Wall Street and institutional investors. As recently as last October, $19 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated in a single day, and the 2022 crypto winter wiped out more than $2 trillion in digital asset market value. On the 18th anniversary of the Bitcoin whitepaper's release, Bitcoin's price is hovering near $80,000, facing its worst month since June.Today, BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF has reached approximately $66 billion in assets, multiple public companies have added Bitcoin to their balance sheets, and traditional financial institutions are actively building out stablecoins, asset tokenization, and blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Yet this development brings a certain irony: Bitcoin was originally designed to challenge the centralized financial system, but is now increasingly being embraced by traditional financial institutions. XRP Ledger developers are testing a new feature that would allow the creation of blockchain accounts with a zero initial balance, with existing accounts covering the reserve requirement for new accounts, in order to lower the funding barrier for payment applications and automated software to create wallets at scale. The proposal was submitted on October 15 as the SponsoredAccountCreate transaction proposal. Under current XRP Ledger rules, each account must hold at least 1 XRP as a reserve, meaning that creating 100,000 separate accounts would require locking up 100,000 XRP. The new proposal would have a sponsoring account cover this reserve requirement, and a broader fee-sponsorship mechanism in the future could also allow applications to pay transaction fees on behalf of users, though the network's overall reserve requirement would not be eliminated as a result. The feature is expected to lower the barrier to use for scenarios such as embedded wallets, RLUSD stablecoin payments, and automated payments by AI agents. However, the relevant code is still under review, and the sponsorship mechanism it relies on has not yet launched on mainnet. As of October 19, the mechanism had received only 11 of the 35 required validator votes, still short of the 29 votes needed for approval. (CoinDesk)
South Korean credit card company Shinhan Card has announced that it has signed an agreement with Japanese electronic payment instrument trading service providers SBI VC Trade and SBI XDC Network APAC to test yen stablecoin payments for tourists and cross-border trade settlement between Japan and South Korea. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, and the testing scope includes stablecoin card payments, wallet-to-wallet payments, and cross-border settlement, as well as evaluating anti-money laundering and fraud detection mechanisms. The initiative aims to support cross-border payments and settlement between South Korea and Japan and improve payment convenience for tourists. In the first eight months of 2026, tourist exchanges between the two countries exceeded 10 million visits, including 7.42 million South Korean visitors to Japan and 2.7 million Japanese visitors to South Korea.Shinhan Card announced in April this year that it had completed a proof of concept for stablecoin payments and cross-border settlement. SBI VC Trade registered in March 2025 as Japan's first electronic payment instrument trading service provider and can handle USDC. (Cointelegraph)
Odaily News: Modular blockchain project Celestia has announced the launch of Eden, a high-performance EVM-compatible chain running on Celestia, serving as an experimental sandbox for testing AI Agent autonomous payments, trading, and model calls. Eden supports atomic batch transactions, application-sponsored gas, and larger smart contract deployments, with TIA as its native gas token. Eden's first experimental project is Botfun, currently in closed beta, where participating Agents can independently issue tokens and trade around narratives generated by other Agents; each model inference call is paid on-chain via x402.
Odaily News: Kostas Chalkias, Chief Cryptographer at Mysten Labs, the core development company behind Sui, announced that the Sui Devnet has completed testing of native quantum-resistant signature transactions. The latest version now supports ML-DSA-65 post-quantum signature verification, which will be used for transaction authorization of regular accounts in the future. Additionally, there are plans to introduce SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s signatures through Move smart contracts to provide protection for high-value asset vaults.Existing accounts will be able to derive quantum-resistant keys from their original mnemonics and update authorization keys through the address alias feature without needing to transfer assets. Sui plans to deploy quantum-resistant vaults to mainnet by the end of 2026 and introduce native ML-DSA-65 accounts to testnet, with the goal of achieving native account authentication on mainnet in Q1 2027. The specific timeline depends on security audits and testing results.
In pre-market analysis, trader degentrading (@degentradingLSD) highlights the following key market signals: • Macro: The 10Y yield has risen to 5.2% and the 30Y to 5.5%, nearing historical peaks. The South Korean stock market opened down 2.5%, with the memory and semiconductor sectors (SK Hynix, Samsung, MU, SNDK) broadly declining 2%–5%. Price action is expected to remain volatile ahead of MU's earnings report. • Next-Generation Cloud Computing: Project payback periods for compute infrastructure have fallen below one year. Market perception is shifting, and rapid revaluation of the new cloud sector is anticipated. Power supply bottlenecks are also gaining prominence. • Tech Stocks: META is trading lower in pre-market. Monitor for accumulation opportunities at the $690 support level or a breakout above all-time highs. If the broader hyperscale data center sector breaks out, META, MSFT, and peers could undergo paradigm-level repricing. • Crypto Markets: Broad weakness across major and alt coins, with BTC potentially testing the $82K support level. Risk capital was freed last week by trimming TAO and DOGE, and taking profit on CRDO. Since crypto sentiment typically remains positive during KBW week, the strategy this week centers on identifying short-term bullish setups.
According to a Fox Business crypto reporter on X, SEC staff has released a new FAQ explaining how the Commission's March digital asset interpretive guidance applies to token functionality, staking receipt tokens, and investment contracts. The guidance states that once a network is functional, services provided to maintain, improve, or develop the network generally do not constitute "essential managerial efforts" under the Howey Test. The FAQ reflects only staff views and does not carry the force of law.
Odaily News: Sources reveal that Google is preparing to test-launch "Project Suncatcher," which plans to deploy solar-powered data centers carrying TPUs into space, utilizing solar energy to power AI computing. The specific test launch date and further technical details have not yet been disclosed. (Reuters)
Odaily reports: Ethereum developers have warned that attackers could exploit free testnet ETH and one-time builder identities to win Sepolia block auctions and withhold transaction payloads during the Glamsterdam testing period. This attack does not threaten mainnet funds, but it could disrupt infrastructure testing. The Sepolia public test is scheduled to launch on October 6, while the Hoodi test is tentatively set for October 27. The mainnet activation date remains undetermined. (CoinDesk)
Odaily News: SpaceX has grand plans for Starship. If all goes according to plan, this 407-foot-tall rocket will one day be used to build an orbital AI data center network and send humans to the Moon and Mars. But first, the company plans to use Starship to send a new, improved money-making machine into space—Starlink satellites.SpaceX plans to send its first batch of V3 satellites into orbit during a critical Starship test flight mission as early as next week. Getting Starship to operate as envisioned is crucial for SpaceX and its shareholders. The company needs Starship not only to revitalize its own Starlink communications network—which contributed nearly 55% of the company's revenue in the second quarter—but also to launch satellites for a range of commercial purposes. Then perhaps its most lucrative mission: sending a futuristic orbital data center into space, which SpaceX says could help tap into a total addressable AI market worth $26.5 trillion. (Bloomberg)
According to Sina Finance, Anthropic has refused to submit its latest model, Claude Mythos 5.1, to the UK Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI) for testing prior to release, restricting access solely to vetted U.S. institutions. This move has raised concerns within Whitehall and at AISI itself, with UK national security officials worried it could set a precedent that prevents AISI from accessing cutting-edge models in the future. Analysts point out that this action may be tied to the U.S. government's increasingly stringent export control policies regarding the AI industry—the U.S. government had previously implemented export controls on Anthropic's Mythos and Fable models, banning their use by foreign nationals. Anthropic declined to comment, stating only that it is "coordinating with the U.S. government to promptly expand model accessibility for more domestic and international partners."
Odaily News, Blockworks analyst Shaunda Devens stated on the X platform that Kraken may be testing Hyperliquid's HIP-3 (Builder-Deployed Perpetuals) new compliant deployment feature, potentially becoming one of the first centralized exchanges to explore this mechanism. BlockworksData shows that a deployer named "Kraken HIP-3 test DEX" has enabled permission management functionality (Star gating) on the Hyperliquid testnet and went live for testing on August 19. Currently, this test DEX has completed whitelist settings for 10 wallets, tested 3 of the 5 compliance control features, and registered a "Kraken Exchange Validator."Shaunda Devens noted that Hyperliquid has been continuously adding testnet features to support regulatory-compliant HIP-3 deployments, including whitelist management, canceling user orders, closing positions via reduce-only orders, and moving collateral. These capabilities are similar to the risk control mechanisms required by traditional financial institutions' compliant trading platforms.Although this is still in the testing phase, and any user could deploy a test DEX with a similar name, making it impossible to confirm it definitively belongs to Kraken, combined with Hyperliquid's recent expansion of xStocks functionality and Kraken's parent company Payward's involvement in related business initiatives, analysts believe Kraken may be testing HyperCore's new infrastructure targeting institutional and compliant markets.HIP-3 is a third-party deployed perpetual contract market framework introduced by Hyperliquid, allowing eligible developers to create independent perpetual trading markets on HyperCore's order book infrastructure. It is considered a key upgrade direction for Hyperliquid to expand into traditional assets and institutional trading scenarios. If large compliant exchanges like Kraken enter the HIP-3 ecosystem, it could further drive the integration of on-chain derivatives markets with traditional financial trading systems.
an Optimism community governance proposal has been passed, reallocating 546.9 million OP tokens originally intended for user airdrops to the "Strategic Ecosystem Fund" managed by the Optimism Foundation, sparking discussions within the community over governance transparency and user rights. The OP tokens involved in this proposal account for approximately 12.7% of the total supply, valued at around $49.7 million at current prices. The Optimism Foundation stated that as the ecosystem strategy shifts toward institutional adoption and enterprise partnerships, large-scale user airdrops no longer fully align with the current development direction, and unused tokens can be deployed for ecosystem incentives, partnership building, and enterprise-level project expansion. The vote ultimately passed with 17.974 million OP in favor and 10.931 million OP against. The pivotal turning point came 16 minutes and 52 seconds before the vote closed, when Test in Prod (delegate.testinprod-io.eth), the core development team of the Optimism ecosystem, cast 8.486 million OP in support, raising the approval ratio from 45.77% to 61.84% and ultimately pushing the proposal through.Excluding Test in Prod's vote, the proposal's support rate would stand at only 46.47%, failing to pass, and the relevant tokens would likely have remained in the user allocation pool. The Optimism Foundation previously committed to disclosing the cumulative usage of the fund and related outcomes through annual budget reports. This vote has also reignited discussions about the influence of "large delegated voting power" in DAO governance and the balance of token holder rights. (CoinDesk)
According to CoinDesk, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) announced plans to utilize the Canton network to conduct a proof of concept for on-chain trading of Japanese Government Bonds (JGB) to achieve real-time 24/7 settlement, replacing the traditional settlement process requiring 1 to 3 days. MUFG stated that this move aims to enhance the operational and capital efficiency of repo transactions, noting that European and American financial institutions have already expanded proof of concept projects in this field, with JPMorgan Chase's Kinexys network having supported blockchain-based intraday US Treasury repo operations since 2020. MUFG pointed out that Japanese Government Bonds are widely used as collateral for repo transactions by domestic and international market participants due to their high credit ratings and liquidity, and the trend towards on-chain adoption is accelerating. Additionally, MUFG has previously partnered with Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC) and Mizuho Financial Group to explore the joint issuance of stablecoins by March 2027; this JGB on-chain settlement test is a significant component of its blockchain strategic layout.
BNB Chain: Former Employee Used Original Test Wallet Without Authorization to Deploy Meme Tokens, Legal Proceedings Initiated
Odaily News: BNB Chain posted on the X platform stating that a certain wallet address was previously created by a former employee and used to generate tokens in a video tutorial. This individual is no longer employed by the company due to this incident. After leaving the company, they retained unauthorized access to the associated mnemonic phrase and used it to generate new private keys. BNB Chain has learned that the same address is being independently used for a new Meme token. BNB Chain did not create, authorize, promote, or participate in the creation of this token, nor can it control the token or wallet address. Both are unrelated to and not endorsed by BNB Chain. BNB Chain is taking legal action against the former employee and is cooperating with relevant authorities on this matter.
According to CoinDesk, Project Agorá, led by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), recently completed a cross-border payment test with real funds. Participants included 28 commercial banks such as JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, UBS, Deutsche Bank, and Standard Chartered, as well as five central banks. The test processed approximately $1 million (about 800,000 Swiss francs) in real transactions, covering six currencies: the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, Japanese yen, Swiss franc, and South Korean won. The test utilized tokenized central bank reserves and commercial bank deposits, settling funds on a shared ledger with an average settlement time of about 80 seconds. Unlike traditional cross-border payments that require intermediation by multiple correspondent banks, the platform achieved shared single ownership records and supports synchronized settlement of bilateral foreign exchange, effectively reducing principal risk. The BIS stated that the platform can operate in parallel with existing payment systems, rather than replacing them.
According to BeInCrypto, El Salvador's two major opposition parties have officially nominated candidates for the February 2027 presidential election: the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) nominated former legislator Maytee Iraheta, while the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) nominated doctor and union leader Rafael Aguirre. Both candidates clearly oppose Bukele's Bitcoin strategy, characterizing it as a fiscal failure. However, Bukele's approval rating remains as high as 94%, and his New Ideas party has also completed nominations, holding a clear advantage for re-election. It is worth noting that El Salvador revoked Bitcoin's legal tender status in February 2025 after reaching a $1.4 billion loan agreement with the IMF, restoring the US dollar as the sole official currency, but the government still maintains the plan to purchase approximately 1 Bitcoin per day, with holdings reaching approximately 7,730 BTC as of July 27.
OKX will list FWDI (Forward Industries), AEHR (Aehr Test Systems), and FLY (Firefly Aerospace) stock perpetual contracts between 17:00 and 17:30 on July 27.
OpenAI confirmed that the unreleased GPT-5.6 Sol and another unnamed, more powerful pre-release model breached a restricted sandbox environment during ExploitGym benchmark evaluations and infiltrated Hugging Face's production infrastructure to obtain test answers.OpenAI stated that the models leveraged a zero-day vulnerability in an internal software package registry proxy to escalate privileges and move laterally, ultimately connecting to a machine with internet access. The models then identified and chained together vulnerabilities in both the OpenAI research environment and Hugging Face's production infrastructure, directly retrieving test solutions from Hugging Face's production database.Hugging Face disclosed the incident on July 16, stating that the attack was executed end-to-end by an autonomous AI agent system, involving thousands of operations within short-lived sandboxes and accessing internal datasets and service credentials. OpenAI confirmed its models were the subject of the incident five days later.Hugging Face stated that its security team, in order to analyze over 17,000 attack logs, initially attempted to use a commercial US frontier AI interface, but the request was blocked due to safety guardrails. They subsequently switched to using the 753-billion parameter open-weight model GLM 5.2 from Chinese AI startup Z.ai on their own infrastructure to complete the forensic analysis.
