: The world’s largest asset management company, BlackRock, has expressed support for the CLARITY Act. Samara Cohen, Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Market Development at BlackRock, stated the bill represents a significant step toward establishing an investor-first regulatory framework for digital assets. Cohen stated the bill will help shape the next phase of market structure in the US by supporting innovation while maintaining transparency, resilience, and investor protection. Fidelity, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, and Charles Schwab have previously expressed support for related legislation or clearer digital asset rules. Last week, the US Senate Republicans released an updated version of the CLARITY Act, integrating work from both the Senate Banking Committee and the Agriculture Committee. Senate Majority Leader John Thune indicated that relevant Senate work could extend beyond the August recess. Crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto stated that it has sent over 925,000 emails to Congress in 2025, exceeding 1.1 million contacts with Congress since its founding. The organization said each Senate vote on the CLARITY Act will be included in a public congressional scorecard.
As the 2026 midterm elections enter the final 100-day countdown, cryptocurrency advocacy group Stand With Crypto stated in a post on X on July 26 that nearly 70% of surveyed cryptocurrency holders believe a candidate's stance on crypto will influence their vote, and nearly 80% indicated they are almost certain to vote. Stand With Crypto noted that 73% of surveyed crypto holders are closely monitoring which crypto policies lawmakers support, while 59% do not have a fixed party affiliation. The organization stated that crypto supporters have contacted Congress over 1 million times regarding relevant legislation. Market attention is focused on the CLARITY Act, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025. The bill aims to clarify the division of responsibilities between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in digital asset regulation, and will influence whether certain digital assets are classified as securities or commodities under federal oversight. Supporters of the bill argue that there is a limited time window to advance legislation before the election-year agenda tightens. Opponents contend that any new framework must maintain protections against fraud, market manipulation, and investor losses. The discussions involve issues such as exchange access, investment products, taxation, and the role of federal regulators in digital finance.
a joint letter initiated by Stand With Crypto, in collaboration with the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation, and The Digital Chamber, has been submitted to U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, urging a full floor vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (the "CLARITY Act") as soon as possible.Over 200 crypto enterprises, industry associations, and community organizations, including Coinbase, Ripple, Kraken, a16z, Circle, and Binance.US, have participated in signing the letter. The joint letter points out that the CLARITY Act would establish a comprehensive federal regulatory framework for the digital asset market, clearly delineate regulatory responsibilities, provide feasible registration pathways, protect software developer innovation, and simultaneously promote the return of more digital asset businesses to the U.S. market. The signatories stated that the bill would help retain innovation, jobs, investment, and market activity within the United States, further solidifying America's leading position in the global digital asset innovation sector. It is understood that the CLARITY Act received bipartisan support and passed committee review in the Senate Banking Committee last month. Senator Cynthia Lummis subsequently stated that the next step for the bill is to enter the full Senate deliberation stage.Additionally, 160 former national security and law enforcement officials have previously signed a letter supporting the bill. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and White House Crypto Advisor Patrick Witt have also publicly called for advancing the legislative process. However, the issue of conflicts of interest between the Trump family and the crypto industry is still regarded as one of the main obstacles to the bill's progress. (The Block)
Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that pro-crypto Democratic candidate Christian Menefee defeated 20-year incumbent Representative Al Green in the TX-18 Democratic primary runoff. In this election, crypto-industry-backed super PACs spent millions of dollars—Fairshake and its affiliated organizations alone contributed approximately $6.5 million, mostly to support Menefee and a smaller portion to oppose Green. Previously, Green received an “F” rating from Stand With Crypto due to his opposition to legislation including the GENIUS Act and the Clarity Act. Fairshake stated it will continue actively supporting leaders like Menefee across the United States.
