Odaily report: Analysts from three Wall Street firms—Cantor Fitzgerald, TD Cowen, and Compass Point—all believe that despite Binance suffering an approximately $6.3 billion hack, there is currently insufficient evidence to suggest the incident will threaten the broader crypto market, and the market's prior recovery trend is unlikely to be interrupted as a result.Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Ramsey El-Assal noted that Tether has frozen over $1.5 billion in stolen assets, Circle has frozen approximately $800 million, and Ripple has frozen about $200 million, with Binance stating that the total frozen stolen funds currently amount to roughly $3 billion. He believes the crypto industry is gradually improving its ability to respond to such security incidents and expects crypto-related stocks such as Coinbase, Robinhood, and Strategy to rebound once market panic subsides, recommending that investors buy on the dip.TD Cowen analyst Lance Vitanza believes the attack exposed security weaknesses in Binance's own transaction signing infrastructure rather than flaws in the underlying technology of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and that the market sell-off may present an opportunity to accumulate Bitcoin and shares of listed companies holding Bitcoin.Compass Point analysts believe Binance has sufficient liquidity to cover the funding gap, and expect its excess USDT reserves, BTC reserves, and USDC funds to be adequate to absorb the losses. However, the firm also warned that Binance compensating customers could put pressure on stablecoin supply and may drive users to migrate from centralized exchanges to competing platforms such as Coinbase, Bullish, and Hyperliquid. Odaily report: Crypto analyst Darkfost posted that although Binance yesterday suffered an attack suspected to be linked to the North Korean hacker group Lazarus Group, with losses of approximately $6.3 billion—the largest theft in crypto industry history—the platform's reserve assets only declined modestly, and the impact on users appears limited.Data shows that during the attack, Binance saw outflows of 18,279 BTC, 185 million XRP, and $1.67 billion USDT at one point; ETH flowed out in two batches, totaling 246,840 coins (167,464 and 79,376 respectively). Based on same-day reserve changes, BTC reserves fell 3.1% to over 682,000 coins, ETH dropped 8.5% to 3.3 million coins, XRP declined 8% to 2.47 billion coins, and USDT decreased 6.3% to $34.1 billion.Additionally, Binance stated it has frozen approximately $3 billion in related assets, including $1.567 billion USDT and over $800 million USDC, and pledged to absorb losses through the SAFU fund and company reserves. Darkfost believes the magnitude of change in Binance's reserve assets indicates the platform still possesses a certain capacity to absorb shocks.
Jack McDonald, Ripple's stablecoin lead, posted that Ripple is closely monitoring reports that Binance may have suffered an attack and that the attacker holds RLUSD, and has proactively frozen the affected funds. Ripple stated that it is currently coordinating with relevant parties and is ready to cooperate with the investigation and take appropriate action at any time to protect the safety of user assets.
Odaily report: A wallet suspected to be associated with the Binance hack incident received tens of thousands of ETH through a Uniswap contract and borrowed 19,762 ETH on Aave using approximately $60 million in USDT as collateral. On-chain records do not show any vulnerabilities in Uniswap or Aave.As of 22:07 UTC, the two wallets held approximately 253,000 ETH, worth about $570 million, with no outgoing transfers recorded. Aave has paused the Ethereum mainnet V3 market, and Kamino has also paused borrowing in the SOL/BTC market; Ripple has frozen approximately $200 million in RLUSD, and more than $2 billion in USDT and USDC has been frozen by stablecoin issuers. According to Decrypt, Binance co-CEO He Yi stated that Ripple has frozen approximately $200 million in RLUSD; suspected hackers are converting freezeable stablecoins into ETH via Uniswap and Aave, while Kamino has suspended SOL/BTC market lending.
According to CoinDesk, the XRP Ledger’s validator support temporarily fell to 26/35, re-triggering the two-week countdown for its vulnerability fix and delaying patch activation to November. Validator support has since rebounded to 31, but due to the reset mechanism, the fix has missed its originally scheduled final activation window.
According to Odaily, digital hardware wallet manufacturer NGRAVE disclosed on October 19 that attackers hijacked a third-party notification service used by its LIQUID companion app and sent fake security alerts to users, resulting in approximately 70 wallet addresses being stolen for about $2.56 million across 4 blockchains. Among the losses, Bitcoin accounted for approximately $1.77 million, XRP approximately $454,000, Ethereum assets approximately $316,000, and Stellar approximately $18,000.The attackers lured users into clicking on counterfeit websites and entering their 24-word recovery phrases or Perfect Keys, after which automated scripts transferred the assets within minutes. NGRAVE stated that the ZERO hardware wallet and private keys were not directly compromised, and that victims voluntarily handed over their recovery credentials during the phishing process. The unauthorized access may have begun on October 11. After obtaining one access key, the attackers acquired a key with broader permissions and sent fake notifications on October 17. NGRAVE detected the anomaly approximately 1 minute after the notifications appeared, but the first wallet had already been drained 6 minutes later, and the notification system was shut down that evening.NGRAVE's CEO stated that the company failed to fulfill the most basic security responsibilities of a crypto security company, and said that the affected keys have been replaced, with two-person approval, domain restrictions, and emergency shutdown mechanisms added. The company also reminded affected users to create new wallets and contact the support team, noting that some device information, wallet activity, IP addresses, and approximate locations may have been exposed. Odaily Report: On-chain detective ZachXBT retweeted the XRP Ledger Foundation's explanation regarding a previous critical security vulnerability and criticized its bug bounty mechanism.ZachXBT stated that XRPL, which holds billions of dollars in assets, only paid a $250,000 reward to the white hat hacker who discovered the critical vulnerability. He believes that this level of reward could weaken security researchers' incentive to proactively report vulnerabilities, and may even encourage attackers to exploit vulnerabilities for massive gains rather than responsibly disclosing the issue.Previously, the XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed that the vulnerability could theoretically bypass the XRP total supply limit, but no additional XRP was found to have been created as a result, and the vulnerability has been fixed through version 3.4.1.
Odaily News: The XRP Ledger Foundation posted on the X platform to clarify the recent XRP Ledger security vulnerability incident, stating that the vulnerability could potentially have been used to bypass the limit that fixes XRP's total supply at 100 billion, but it was fixed two weeks ago via version 3.4.1. Furthermore, upon verification, no new XRP was found to have been created, and the total amount of XRP currently circulating on the ledger is approximately 99.986 billion. The Foundation stated that the vulnerability would have required hundreds of deliberately constructed operations to trigger, and normal payment transactions would almost never involve it. In the future, it will strengthen formal verification, AI adversarial testing, security research collaboration, and bug bounty programs with RippleX and the community. Regarding the fix process, the Foundation explained that publicly releasing a patch could allow attackers to use AI to accelerate vulnerability analysis. To address this situation, the XRPL community engaged in coordination. Participating parties including the XRP Ledger Foundation, RippleX, core developers, and validators reached a social consensus and agreed to adopt the approach of directly releasing the fix. In addition, version 3.4.1 only became a version the network was required to adopt after going through the normal amendment voting process and receiving support from more than 80% of validators for two consecutive weeks. Protocol changes still need to be completed through the amendment mechanism.Previously, RippleX engineering lead J. Ayo Akinyele also posted on the X platform, stating that he attaches great importance to the recently disclosed critical vulnerability in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) payment engine. This vulnerability is a serious security issue that has existed in the codebase for more than 10 years and could theoretically lead to the over-creation of XRP, breaking through the fixed supply cap. However, before the vulnerability could be exploited, it was discovered by the security research firm Veria AI through Ripple's bug bounty program.
According to Cointelegraph, the Tampered Ledger device intrusion incident has spread from Asia to Europe; security firm Veria Labs has utilized AI to uncover a hidden overflow vulnerability in the underlying code of XRP that could enable the excessive issuance of 18 trillion tokens.
Odaily News: J. Ayo Akinyele, Engineering Lead at RippleX, posted on X platform stating that they take the recently disclosed critical vulnerability in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) payment engine very seriously. The vulnerability is a severe security issue that has existed in the codebase for over 10 years and could theoretically lead to the over-creation of XRP, breaching the fixed supply cap. However, the vulnerability was discovered by security research firm Veria AI through Ripple's bug bounty program before it could be exploited.J. Ayo Akinyele further added that the Ripple team quickly developed and tested a fix, working closely with validator nodes to complete the network upgrade, and patched the vulnerability before its public disclosure. Currently, AI is changing the speed of vulnerability discovery, and XRPL needs to further enhance its security response capabilities. RippleX will strengthen its bug bounty program, expand AI-assisted vulnerability hunting and adversarial testing, review long-standing code in the payment engine, consensus mechanism, and P2P network, while advancing formal verification of critical modules and reducing potential risks through systematic security hardening. The goal is not just to fix a single vulnerability, but to identify and eliminate potential risks in XRPL's legacy code, making the network more difficult to attack.
The XRP Ledger recently patched a critical security vulnerability traceable to 2015. Discovered by researcher Cayden Liao and Veria AI, the issue was reported internally on September 22. Attackers could exploit a counter overflow flaw in the ledger’s built-in exchange to create massive amounts of XRP from thin air at an extremely low cost by opening hundreds of accounts, then transfer and liquidate them to bypass XRP’s fixed supply cap of 100 billion. RippleX quietly released the patched version xrpld 3.4.1 on September 25, stating that there is currently no evidence of the public network having been exploited.
XRP Ledger 发现并修复了一个始于 2015 年的计价漏洞,若被利用可能导致 XRP 固定供应量规则失效,目前未发现被恶意利用的证据。

Bitget was hacked, resulting in the theft of approximately $83 million worth of XRP. Ripple officially stated that due to technical architecture limitations, it is unable to freeze funds in external accounts.
The XRP Ledger batch transaction upgrade countdown was reset due to insufficient validator support, delaying activation from September 29 to October 9. This marks the second attempt following a fix for a signature vulnerability.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen posted a 12-hour progress report on the security incident on X, including:1. Affected assets include ETH, XRP (largest single-chain loss), BNB, AVAX, USDT, USDC, and other tokens. Affected chains include: Ethereum, XRP Ledger, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, BSC, and Base. All on-chain cold wallets have been confirmed secure and unaffected.2. All foundations of the affected chains have been contacted, and some foundations have confirmed the freezing of the hacker's wallet addresses.3. Based on IP behavioral characteristics and on-chain analysis, the attack methodology is highly consistent with known patterns of North Korean hacker groups. Relevant authorities have been notified, and full cooperation is being provided for a global investigation.4. Bitget Wallet (decentralized wallet) operates completely independently from Bitget exchange infrastructure, and this incident has no impact on it. Bitget Wallet assets are completely safe.5. Transparent disclosure regarding the platform's financial status: In addition to over $464 million in protection funds (all held in publicly verifiable wallet addresses), Bitget's own assets exceed $1 billion. User funds are covered at a 1:1 ratio, and all data can be verified on-chain.6. Regarding withdrawal recovery timing: The goal is to achieve full recovery as soon as possible. Once a specific time window is confirmed, an announcement will be made immediately. No commitment will be made to timelines that cannot be fulfilled.

Odaily reports: On-chain analyst Specter has stated that they have established an on-chain connection between the Bitget attack and the AFX attack that occurred in July of this year. The latter involved approximately $24 million in stolen funds and was attributed to TraderTraitor.Specter claims that the XRP stolen from Bitget can be directly traced to the stolen funds from the AFX attack after being bridged across chains, leading them to believe that this attack may be related to Lazarus Group. The attribution is still pending further verification.
According to Lookonchain data, the assets stolen in the Bitget incident comprise 9 different token categories, totaling approximately $356.9 million in value. Of these, approximately 102.93 million XRP (worth around $157.48 million) represents the highest-valued category, alongside 31,890 ETH (approximately $85.75 million).
