Ripple CEO: Dutch Central Bank Took Months to Transfer $11 Billion in Gold, Which Is Exactly an Ideal Use Case for Cryptocurrency

According to Bitcoin.com, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse posted on September 4 that the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) spent several months redeploying approximately 86 tons of gold from New York and Ottawa to London, valued at roughly $11 billion. Approximately 59 tons were handled through market trades (selling in New York and buying in London), while over 27 tons were physically transported. Following the operation, DNB's share of gold reserves held in London increased from 18.1% to 32.1%, with total reserves remaining unchanged at 612.4 tons. Regarding this move, Garlinghouse noted that cryptocurrency has evolved from a $1.5 billion experiment in 2013 into a $2.7 trillion asset class today, yet the methods used by central banks to transfer value remain stuck in the 1940s. "This is the ideal use case for cryptocurrency—the ability to store and transfer value globally, instantly, securely, and at a low cost."

BIS Publishes Working Paper: Exploring Blockchain-Based Verification Solutions for Official Statistical Data

According to BIS Working Paper 1374 released by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the BIS, together with several researchers, has proposed a verifiable framework that binds official statistical data to the blockchain. The solution computes cryptographic fingerprints for SDMX datasets and anchors the digest values to the XRP Ledger, enabling independent verification of data provenance and integrity while leaving existing data publication workflows unaffected. Prototype tests show a data publication latency of approximately 3–5 seconds and a verification latency of approximately 1–2 seconds, meeting the requirements for real-time interactions and automated systems. Since only fingerprints, rather than raw data, are stored on-chain, data confidentiality is preserved. Cost modeling indicates that on-chain fees become negligible after batch processing, with a single ledger record capable of covering thousands of datasets. The study also provides an open-source reference implementation and reserves capacity for future integration of zero-knowledge proofs and AI-driven automated verification.

Donald Trump: Urges Congress to Pass a "Fair Version" of the Clarity Act

Ripple Chief Legal Officer: September 15 Will Be a Key Indicator for the Future of the Clarity Act

Odaily News, Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty stated that September 15 will be a key date for determining whether the U.S. "Clarity Act" crypto market structure bill can continue to advance.Alderoty said at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2026 that the Senate will hold its first procedural motion on September 15, namely whether to enter deliberation. The motion requires 60 votes of support to open the door for the bill's subsequent progress. He noted that this day will serve as a "barometer" for judging whether the Clarity Act can still move forward in Congress.Alderoty also serves as Chairman of the National Crypto Association. He stated that even if market structure legislation hits a roadblock, both the SEC and CFTC have publicly stated that they will continue to advance crypto regulatory rulemaking. He believes that the two regulatory agencies' closer coordination in recent times is a positive signal. In the past, the SEC and CFTC did not always work collaboratively, but now both sides are engaging in closer cooperation around crypto asset regulation. However, Alderoty emphasized that what the industry most hopes to see remains congressional legislation, because legislation is more stable than mere regulatory rules and harder to overturn. He stated that regardless of the outcome, the U.S. will see crypto regulation; the difference lies in whether the framework is established through a more enduring congressional bill or advanced by regulators acting alone.
