Onyx Protocol is an algorithmic money market designed to bring secure and trustless credit and lending to users on Ethereum Network. Onyx enables investors to lend and/or borrow cryptocurrencies, by pledging the platform an over-collateralized amount of cryptocurrency. Onyx does this by utilizing money markets, which are pools of assets with algorithmically derived interest rates, based on the supply and demand of each asset.
Onyx Protocol announced that Onyx Layer 3 (XCN Ledger) will officially cease services on December 31, 2026, and subsequent development resources will be fully redirected to Onyx Layer 1. According to the official announcement, XCN will maintain its native Ethereum ERC-20 asset properties unchanged, and the XCN contract on Ethereum will continue to serve as the primary asset carrier in the ecosystem for liquidity, governance, and staking. Users will still be able to bridge XCN from Ethereum to Onyx Layer 1 as needed in the future to participate in staking, applications, and subsequent network functions.
the sports prediction app Onyx Odds has announced the completion of a $20 million funding round, led by Payward, the parent company of Kraken. The project primarily focuses on sports event predictions and is currently expanding into other trading products.
