Texas 2025 Crypto Kiosk Fraud Losses Hit $56.8 Million, Lawmakers Consider Measures Beyond Regulation

Odaily News: Data submitted by the FBI to a legislative committee shows that in 2025, losses related to cryptocurrency kiosks in Texas reached $56.8 million, involving 1,179 complaints, ranking first among all U.S. states. Nationwide, related complaints totaled 13,460, with reported losses surging 58% year-over-year to $389 million. Cryptocurrency kiosks accept cash and convert it into cryptocurrency, typically located at gas stations and convenience stores. According to Texas Tribune data, there are approximately 4,000 such machines in Texas. Scammers often trick victims into withdrawing cash from their bank accounts and depositing it into the machines. Jesse Saucillo, Deputy Commissioner of the Texas Department of Banking, stated that once funds are transferred out, recovery is nearly impossible, as the money typically flows to non-custodial wallets and then into mixers and other channels. He added that AI-generated impersonation content of police and state agencies has made phone-based scams more deceptive. AARP data shows that since 2023, around 30 U.S. states have enacted laws related to cryptocurrency kiosks. Indiana imposed a full ban on such machines in March, with Tennessee and Minnesota following suit. Texas House Committee Chairman Rep. Cole Hefner said the state will consider measures that go beyond the scope of regulation.

Analysis: Bitcoin Long-Term Holders' Holdings Hit All-Time High, Potentially Signaling an Earlier Cycle Bottom

Odaily News According to Cory Klippsten, CEO of Swan Bitcoin, the holdings of Bitcoin long-term holders have risen to a record high, potentially indicating that the bottom of this crypto market cycle could emerge earlier than in the past. Data from on-chain analytics platform Glassnode shows that long-term holders (those holding coins for at least 155 days) currently possess approximately 14.7 million BTC, a historic high, suggesting that seasoned investors are continuing to "hold" their coins, reflecting strong market confidence. The on-chain data also reveals that since November 2025, the supply held by long-term holders has grown by about 14%, indicating the market has re-entered an accumulation phase following a period of significant liquidation.Cory Klippsten pointed out that, in historical cycles, this level of holdings typically corresponds to a cyclical bottom zone, reflecting long-term capital's firm expectations for Bitcoin's future value. He believes this could mean the bottom for the current cycle will arrive earlier than the historical average pace. However, this view contrasts with some market predictions. For example, Jiang Zhuoer, founder of Lebit Mining Pool, suggests the Bitcoin cycle bottom could appear between October and December 2026, and may be influenced by the market Net Asset Value (mNAV) cycle. Furthermore, market sentiment is also affected by the progress of US crypto regulation. Grayscale noted that the passage of the "CLARITY Act" remains uncertain; any legislative delays could prolong institutional deleveraging, creating additional downward pressure on Bitcoin's price. Analysis: Bitcoin Approaches $75,000 as ETF Inflows Hit a New Annual High

According to Decrypt, Bitcoin’s price recently approached $75,000, driven by improved risk sentiment and easing geopolitical tensions. Since the Iran conflict erupted on February 28, Bitcoin has surged approximately 13%, outperforming both the S&P 500 Index and gold. Data shows bearish pressure in the options market has eased, with the 25-Delta Skew rebounding from -10% to -4.5%, indicating reduced investor demand for downside protection. Last week, CoinShares data revealed net inflows of $1.1 billion into crypto investment products—the strongest weekly performance so far this year—with U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs accounting for $786 million in net inflows. Analysts note that ETF inflows and strengthening institutional demand have become key drivers behind Bitcoin’s rally. Experts caution that inflation, Federal Reserve policy, and evolving geopolitical developments could influence its future trajectory.
