Axelar Network Calls for Enhanced Multi-Layer Security for Cross-Chain Bridges

Axelar Network stated that the hacker attack and theft of funds undermine users’ overall trust in blockchain systems and slow down the adoption of the global ledger it envisions. Axelar expressed its support for the LayerZero team in navigating this difficult situation and rebuilding trust. Regarding this approximately $290 million attack, Axelar emphasized that—pending final forensic findings—the incident once again highlights the need for multi-layered security in cross-chain bridge construction. This includes ensuring operational security for bridge operators, validators, and validating nodes; providing proper incentives and training; and removing validators whose technical capabilities are not adequately demonstrated. Additionally, operators must be sufficiently numerous, structurally heterogeneous, diverse, and geographically distributed to prevent ultimate control by a single entity.

Circle Responds to Drift Theft Incident, Calls for Enhanced Accountability and Rule of Law in Open Financial Systems

Circle Chief Strategy Officer Dante Disparte responded to the major security breach affecting Drift Protocol on April 1, which resulted in over $270 million in stolen funds. He stated that open financial systems must be built upon foundations of legal accountability, shared security, and rules that evolve in real time with emerging threats. Circle freezes USDC funds only when legally required—a measure reflecting its compliance obligations and safeguarding users’ assets and privacy rights. He emphasized that openness and accountability must be balanced, and all participants across the ecosystem—including protocols, wallets, infrastructure providers, exchanges, and stablecoin issuers—must jointly shoulder responsibility for security and accountability. Circle is collaborating with U.S. and international policymakers to advance stablecoin legislation, including the GENIUS Act, to establish a more modern legal framework enabling lawful, rapid intervention against illicit activities while protecting property rights and privacy—ensuring the continued resilience and robust growth of open financial systems.

Google DeepMind Releases Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6

Odaily News Google DeepMind has released Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6, positioned as a high-level reasoning model for robots. Compared to its predecessor ER 1.5 and Gemini 3.0 Flash, it shows significant improvements in spatial reasoning and multi-view understanding. The model is now available to developers via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. The core upgrades include three key capabilities:1. Enhanced pointing accuracy: Can be used for precise object detection, counting, spatial relationship reasoning (e.g., "point to all objects that can fit into the blue cup"), and motion trajectory planning. It can also correctly refuse to point to objects that do not exist in the scene.2. Multi-view success detection: Robots can now integrate views from multiple camera feeds to determine if a task is completed, maintaining accuracy even in occluded or dynamic environments.3. New instrument reading capability: Can interpret various industrial instruments such as circular pressure gauges, vertical level indicators, and digital displays. It achieves step-by-step reasoning through agentic vision (visual reasoning + code execution): first zooming in on detail areas, then calculating proportions and intervals via pointing and code, and finally combining world knowledge to derive the reading.

Enhanced Labs closes $1M pre-seed round led by Maximum Frequency Ventures

According to Decrypt, Enhanced Labs Inc., an on-chain structured yield protocol, has announced the completion of a $1 million strategic pre-seed funding round, led by Maximum Frequency Ventures, with participation from GSR, Selini, Flowdesk, and several angel investors. The funds raised will be used for product development and operational infrastructure. Enhanced’s product strategy centers on three key directions: optimizing auction mechanisms to enhance yield competitiveness; extending options-based yield strategies to a broader range of on-chain assets—including tokenized real-world assets (RWAs); and simplifying complex strategies into goal-oriented user experiences that allow users to directly define desired outcomes such as yield targets, hedging objectives, or structured exposures. Enhanced positions itself at the intersection of the on-chain yield and options narratives—a sector currently experiencing an unusually active cycle in DeFi options since 2024.
