According to the official SecondFi X account release, asset recovery efforts have made phased progress. The white hat team involved in the rescue has successfully deposited the rescued assets into the recovery fund originally established by EMURGO (address: addr1qyvvn9e9ulvzw2nvgkwraxwrla4a28l7gmduk7jru2rw9kdxkls8aczwgg8u44nj87uaq50rgcjulcxtzv9q8j0g2lss9kv2ss), available for public tracking. SecondFi stated that assets protected through emergency rescue measures are currently secure, and progress will continue to be disclosed subsequently. Meanwhile, SecondFi reminds users again: the official team will never proactively request private keys, seed phrases, or wallet credentials, nor will it require users to transfer funds to any wallet address. Please beware of scams impersonating the official team.
According to CoinDesk, the Cardano wallet SecondFi was attacked due to a vulnerability in its transaction signing software. A total of 16.1 million ADA (approximately $2.4 million) across 374 wallets was stolen, and the platform has announced permanent closure. The vulnerability allowed attackers to derive private keys from transaction data visible on-chain. The Cardano network itself was not affected, nor were hardware wallet users. An investigation by Groom Lake, a blockchain intelligence company hired by EMURGO, revealed that the primary attackers were sophisticated and well-funded. Some indications point to North Korea's Lazarus Group, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. SecondFi plans to release a wallet export tool in early August and launch a zero-knowledge recovery portal later in the month. EMURGO has established an asset recovery wallet, with the specific distribution time to be determined.
: Cardano wallet service provider SecondFi has released an update on the security incident recovery progress, stating that EMURGO has established an asset recovery fund to return assets to users affected by the attack.SecondFi stated that emergency measures have been taken to protect and restore access to some assets. The team is currently discussing appropriate custody mechanisms with Intersect to ensure the safe return of assets to users.Furthermore, SecondFi is collaborating with a Cardano community-led working group to advance the on-chain recovery plan. Due to the recovery plan being more complex than initially expected, the overall recovery time may exceed the previously estimated two weeks.
: According to official sources, Astarter, an autonomous AI Economy infrastructure on the BNB Chain ecosystem, has announced strategic support from institutions including Vega Ventures, UZ Capital, Go2Mars, and BitBT Ventures, further strengthening its AI ecosystem layout. Astarter had previously received lead investment from EMURGO, along with strategic support from other institutions such as MH Ventures, Avstar Capital, 316VC, CRT Labs, and Megala Ventures. It is reported that Astarter aims to build a full-stack infrastructure on the BNB Chain for AI agents, providing on-chain AI agents with dedicated computing power, runtime execution, on-chain settlement, and identity capabilities. Its products encompass the AI computing power node ABox, a decentralized exchange (DEX), a Launchpad, and the CORE agent layer, with the native token being AST. The Astarter mainnet and TGE are planned for launch in the third quarter of 2026. This strategic partnership is expected to further advance Astarter's development in computing power networks, products, and ecosystem.
According to The Block, the Cardano Foundation confirmed that the Cardano Summit 2026 will not be held this year, as the on-chain treasury funding proposal failed to reach the required supermajority threshold of 66.67%. The revised proposal sought a grant of 7.8 million ADA—approximately $2 million—but ultimately secured only 65.21% support from DReps’ staked voting power and was therefore rejected. The summit had been scheduled to take place in Singapore on October 5–6. Separately, EMURGO’s sponsorship proposal for TOKEN2049 has been approved.
