Balancer Co-Founder Proposes Phasing Out the Protocol, Says v3 Revenue Growth Fell Short of Expectations

Odaily Report: Balancer Labs co-founder Marcus Hardt posted on X that he has proposed a governance proposal to gradually shut down Balancer. Balancer had previously completed a restructuring, including halting token emissions, transferring all protocol fees to the DAO, cutting the operational budget by one-third, and reducing the team from approximately 25 people to 12.5 full-time equivalents.Marcus stated that the restructuring was completed on the cost side as planned, but revenue performance fell short of expectations. Currently, most of Balancer's protocol revenue still comes from v2, and v3 revenue has not grown enough to replace v2. Previous security incidents have also continued to affect partners' willingness to adopt v3. Marcus said he can no longer see a funded path that could change the situation, and continuing to burn through treasury funds is not reasonable. Therefore, he has proposed gradually shutting down Balancer and will not lead efforts to develop a plan for continued operations. The Balancer code will remain open source, and other teams can fork it and continue development. The relevant proposal has been submitted to the governance forum, and the final decision still rests with token holders.

Bonk Guy Responds to Buying EMBER: Started Building Position at Around $7M Market Cap, Bullish on Its Launchpad Data Growth

Odaily News: Crypto trader Bonk Guy posted on X platform responding to recent controversy surrounding his purchase of EMBER and explaining his position-building logic. Bonk Guy stated that he first noticed the project when EMBER's market cap was around $3 million but did not buy in. After observing for a day, he revisited his research due to the platform's rapid data growth and bought in from around a $7 million market cap all the way up to a $20 million market cap.Bonk Guy said that EMBER is a major Launchpad built on Meteora, supporting SOL, USDC, and over 150 tokenized stocks as pairing assets for token issuance. It utilizes Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve technology and offers features such as token fee distribution, Daily Jackpots, and DAO governance.According to his disclosure, Ember has recorded approximately $51.7 million in trading volume, $561,000 in fees, and has cumulatively issued 2,041 tokens within 3 days of launch, with over 41,800 unique holder addresses and 149,000 Solana transactions. BonkGuy compared his Ember purchase to his previous PONS trade, noting that he first saw PONS when its market cap was below $1 million, similarly ignored it for a full day, and then started buying at around a $4 million market cap. Rather than whether a trending token has already emerged, what matters more is observing the real usage data underlying the Launchpad.Additionally, Bonk Guy stated that both Robinhood Chain and BNB Chain have multiple successful Launchpads, while Solana's Meme trading ecosystem has been developing for a longer time, so there is no reason to believe that Solana can ultimately only accommodate one successful Launchpad. He also stated that his trades are not based on market consensus. Some of his most successful trades in the past often came from discovering opportunities before the market formed a consensus; by the time everyone agrees, the asymmetric upside potential has usually already been significantly reduced.Regarding the recent controversy, Bonk Guy said that the claim of "EMBER having over 50% Bubblemaps address clusters" has been clarified by Bubblemaps; his earlier statement that Ember was "launched by Meteora" was also inaccurate—a more precise description is that Ember is built on Meteora-related infrastructure and has now been listed on Meteora's ecosystem page. Bonk Guy emphasized that he has no relationship with the Ember team, and EMBER is a personal trade for him.

Arbitrum DAO Revenue Reaches $6.19 Million in the First Half of the Year, Robinhood Chain Contributes New Revenue Stream

An unaudited report released by the Arbitrum Foundation shows that Arbitrum DAO generated $6.19 million in revenue in the first half of 2026, primarily from Arbitrum One transaction fees, Timeboost priority auctions, Expansion Program license fees, and treasury management yields, with the protocol revenue gross margin exceeding 97%. As of the end of June, the DAO held $125 million in non-ARB treasury assets.

Core DAO Plans Emergency Hard Fork as Validators Receive Excess CORE Rewards

Odaily News: Blockchain project Core DAO has announced a coordinated emergency hard fork, caused by validators receiving CORE rewards exceeding the blockchain's originally scheduled issuance. Core DAO stated that the incident is under control, malicious validators can no longer continue to obtain excess rewards, and the upgrade will not roll back the network or revoke confirmed transactions.Core DAO previously stated that a small number of validators had accumulated rewards significantly higher than the protocol's set issuance, and that the incident only involved reward distribution, with user assets remaining secure. Coinbase, Bithumb, Coinone, Bitget, and LBank had restricted CORE deposits, withdrawals, or transfers.Core DAO has not yet disclosed the amount of excess CORE issued, the duration of the related activity, whether the extra tokens entered circulation, or the cause of the vulnerability, and stated that it will publish a technical post-mortem report. All-time high: Robinhood Chain surpasses $13.05 million in cumulative fees within two months of launch

Odaily News – Just two months after its launch, Robinhood Chain has seen cumulative transaction fees rise to $13.05 million, setting a new all-time high. Based on the annualized average of the last 30 days of fee revenue, the annualized revenue scale stands at approximately $110 million. At current cumulative revenue levels, roughly $1.3 million will flow directly to the Arbitrum ecosystem. Under the cooperation licensing agreement between the two parties, Robinhood Chain is required to return 10% of its protocol net revenue to the Arbitrum ecosystem, with 8% going to the Arbitrum DAO treasury and 2% to the Arbitrum Developer Guild.

Lisk Chain will shut down and gradually dissolve its DAO, plans to burn 100 million LSK and pivot to an enterprise treasury management platform

Odaily News: Lisk founder Max Kordek announced that Lisk will pivot to a treasury operations platform for enterprise finance teams, offering treasury management services such as accounts, payments, and approvals, while gradually winding down its original blockchain ecosystem. The new platform targets enterprises operating across entities and jurisdictions that use both fiat and stablecoins. Early access is now available for qualified companies, supporting unified management of bank and stablecoin accounts, bank transfers, stablecoin payments and receivables, and permission-based payment approvals. Future plans include corporate cards, non-custodial treasury management, and payroll integrations.Lisk Chain will shut down on October 31, 2026. Lisk has partnered with the Celo team to provide a migration path for on-chain DApps, developers, and projects to move to the Celo network.Lisk also proposed a plan to gradually dissolve the Lisk DAO, including burning 100 million LSK from the DAO treasury, reducing total supply from 400 million to 300 million; removing staking penalties and allowing holders to flexibly unstake, while gradually shutting down DAO governance infrastructure.Lisk stated that LSK will transform into a "loyalty token" for the new platform, where enterprises can earn rewards by using Lisk's treasury operations platform and referring other businesses, and may also use LSK to pay platform fees in the future. LSK will primarily operate on Ethereum and Base going forward. Users who still hold LSK on Lisk Chain must complete the migration to Ethereum before October 31.

JustLend DAO Energy Direct Purchase Feature Officially Launched

Odaily News, August 20 — JustLend DAO announced the launch of "Buy Energy," a one-stop energy direct purchase service, offering TRON ecosystem users a more efficient and cost-effective new option for resource acquisition. This feature precisely targets short-term energy demand scenarios, with users receiving their energy within 10 seconds of placing an order, completely eliminating the 14-day lock-up and redemption waiting period required by traditional staking models, truly achieving "buy and use instantly." Additionally, a single order supports batch energy purchases for up to 50 addresses, greatly enhancing convenience for multi-account operations.According to estimates, compared to directly burning TRX to obtain energy, the Buy Energy feature can help users save approximately 63% in costs, combining both efficiency and cost-effectiveness advantages, further lowering the barrier to entry for interactions on the TRON blockchain.

Arbitrum Activates ArbOS 61 Elara Upgrade, Introducing Optional Compliance Filtering and Priority Fee Support for Dedicated Chains

According to The Defiant, Arbitrum officially activated the ArbOS 61 Elara upgrade on August 20, which was approved for deployment via an ArbitrumDAO governance vote. The core features of this upgrade include: introducing an optional protocol-level transaction filtering mechanism for Dedicated Chains, allowing chain owners to independently select external compliance service providers such as TRM Labs and Chainalysis to configure restricted address rules; the filter is disabled by default and does not affect existing Arbitrum One users; adding Priority Fee support, also disabled by default, with its activation on Arbitrum One still requiring a separate DAO constitutional vote; introducing the BaseFeeManager contract, which authorizes Offchain Labs to adjust the L2 minimum Gas fee within a DAO-approved range of 0.01 to 0.10 gwei over a two-year authorization period; additionally, the maximum code size limit for Stylus contracts has been increased from 24 KB to 96 KB, though this does not apply to Solidity contracts.

Optimism governance vote sparks controversy: 5.469 million OP tokens redirected from user airdrop to ecosystem fund

an Optimism community governance proposal has been passed, reallocating 546.9 million OP tokens originally intended for user airdrops to the "Strategic Ecosystem Fund" managed by the Optimism Foundation, sparking discussions within the community over governance transparency and user rights. The OP tokens involved in this proposal account for approximately 12.7% of the total supply, valued at around $49.7 million at current prices. The Optimism Foundation stated that as the ecosystem strategy shifts toward institutional adoption and enterprise partnerships, large-scale user airdrops no longer fully align with the current development direction, and unused tokens can be deployed for ecosystem incentives, partnership building, and enterprise-level project expansion. The vote ultimately passed with 17.974 million OP in favor and 10.931 million OP against. The pivotal turning point came 16 minutes and 52 seconds before the vote closed, when Test in Prod (delegate.testinprod-io.eth), the core development team of the Optimism ecosystem, cast 8.486 million OP in support, raising the approval ratio from 45.77% to 61.84% and ultimately pushing the proposal through.Excluding Test in Prod's vote, the proposal's support rate would stand at only 46.47%, failing to pass, and the relevant tokens would likely have remained in the user allocation pool. The Optimism Foundation previously committed to disclosing the cumulative usage of the fund and related outcomes through annual budget reports. This vote has also reignited discussions about the influence of "large delegated voting power" in DAO governance and the balance of token holder rights. (CoinDesk)

Compound Approves $52 Million Budget for Full Transition to Institutional DeFi

According to Cryptopolitan, DeFi lending protocol Compound approved a record $52 million two-year development budget via DAO voting and completed leadership restructuring, announcing a full pivot to the institutional market. The COMP token subsequently rose over 10% within 24 hours, currently trading at around $18. Regarding the budget, $14 million has been authorized for immediate use, with the remaining funds unlocked in batches based on milestones. In terms of fund allocation, approximately $28 million is designated for operations and R&D for the new version Compound V4, and $24 million for growth, of which $8 million to $10 million is specifically allocated for institutional partnerships. The V4 core adopts a "hub-and-spoke" architecture, centralizing fund scheduling through a central hub to meet higher institutional requirements for risk control. Currently, over 10 partners have confirmed joining, with another 20+ currently in negotiations.

Andre Cronje: DeFi No Longer Exists, Only On-Chain Finance Remains

Odaily News: Andre Cronje, founder of DeFi platform Flying Tulip and creator of Fantom Network, stated that most DeFi protocols are no longer truly decentralized, with only a few niche areas still qualifying as DeFi. He believes DeFi has evolved into "on-chain finance" or "open finance." He pointed out that true DeFi should possess characteristics such as decentralization, immutability, and the absence of intermediaries, whereas the intermediaries in most current protocols have become corporations, taking on traditional financial institution roles such as decision-makers and risk committees. Cronje noted that this does not mean true DeFi has completely disappeared, as some protocols are still innovating. Data from DefiLlama shows that the total value locked (TVL) in DeFi has dropped from $167 billion in early October 2025 to $75 billion at the time of the original report over the past 10 months, a decline of more than half. In a working paper published in March, the European Central Bank (ECB) analyzed Aave, MakerDAO, Ampleforth, and Uniswap, finding that based on holding snapshots from November 2022 and May 2023, the top 100 addresses holding governance tokens in these protocols each controlled over 80% of the token supply. The ECB consequently questioned the level of decentralization of these DAOs and whether they should continue to be regarded as "fully decentralized" services exempt from the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). ENS DAO Passes Proposal to Officially Establish Foundation, Strengthening Decentralized Domain Ecosystem Governance

Odaily News ENS DAO has voted to pass the "Next Era of ENS DAO" proposal and completed on-chain execution, officially establishing the ENS Foundation to usher the ENS ecosystem into a new phase of governance.According to the proposal, the ENS Foundation will become a fully operational organization, equipped with a full-time executive director, a professional team, and a board of directors consisting of 5 members. It will be responsible for ENS's institutional work in legal, policy, standards-setting, and brand protection. ENS stated that over the past nearly decade, it has developed into critical infrastructure within the Ethereum ecosystem, with millions of registered domain names and integration across numerous wallets, applications, and Layer 2 networks. However, the DAO itself lacks a legal entity status, which prevents it from effectively participating in internet naming system governance, signing institutional cooperation agreements, hiring full-time employees, safeguarding trademark rights, or engaging in regulatory discussions. The establishment of the ENS Foundation aims to fill this gap. Going forward, the Foundation will be responsible for:1. Representing ENS in internet standards organizations such as ICANN, IETF, and W3C, to promote the recognition and management of the ".ens" top-level domain (TLD);2. Participating in policy discussions as a legal entity, communicating with regulators and government agencies;3. Holding and protecting ENS trademarks and intellectual property, and combating phishing and impersonation activities;4. Hiring full-time employees to manage ecosystem operations, grant programs, and treasury management;5. Serving as the formal cooperation entity between traditional institutions such as registrars and standards organizations and the ENS ecosystem.

JST cumulative burned amount surpasses 1.604 billion tokens, with on-chain value exceeding $161 million

Odaily, July 29 – On-chain data shows that the cumulative burned amount sent to the JST black hole address has exceeded 1.604 billion tokens, with a current on-chain value of approximately $161 million. Since the launch of the buyback and burn program, JustLend DAO has completed four consecutive rounds of buybacks and burns driven by real protocol revenue, with all operations publicly verifiable on-chain. To date, the cumulative burned amount of JST has exceeded 17% of its total supply, with the deflationary process continuing to deepen. As a core infrastructure of the TRON DeFi ecosystem, JustLend DAO will continue to advance the upgrade of the buyback and burn mechanism, supported by genuine protocol earnings, to further strengthen JST's deflationary trajectory and establish a more deterministic long-term value anchor for holders.

DEXE plummets 96.8% in 11 days, Ceffu transfers 797,900 DEXE to Binance, possibly linked to DWF Labs

Odaily Odaily News According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi's monitoring, DEXE reached an all-time high of $49.432 on July 12. It began to decline on July 13, and on July 21, it experienced a single-day maximum drop of 88%, with the price falling from $46.93 to $5.648. Over 11 days, the decline reached 96.8%, with the price dropping from $49.423 to $1.56. Ai Yi stated that the large on-chain fund flows were primarily from CEX hot wallets, and no anomalies were found except for those involving Ceffu. Since July 13, the custody platform Ceffu has transferred a total of 797,900 DEXE to Binance, split across 6 transactions, with a total value of $6.15 million. This makes Ceffu the only entity, besides exchanges, to move over a million dollars worth of this token. Ai Yi noted that due to the Ceffu MirrorX mechanism, DEXE held in Ceffu generates a 1:1 mirrored position on the exchange, and on-chain asset transfers are settled automatically afterward. If this mechanism was used for front-running, the actual value corresponding to the 797,900 DEXE would be $39.44 million. Ai Yi further indicated that public records do not show the DEXE project team depositing tokens with Ceffu, with most tokens being held in the DAO treasury and team-related lock-up contracts. Among DEXE's official partners, Falcon had supported DEXE as collateral on its platform. Falcon's asset custodian includes Ceffu, and Falcon Finance is associated with DWF Labs, which is also on DEXE's partner list. Ai Yi stated that the above conclusions are based on on-chain data and public clues, and it cannot be ruled out that the project team or other market makers are involved.
