Gnosis Safe Wallet Hacked, $7.8M Worth of rsETH Stolen

According to CoinDesk, a Gnosis Safe wallet on Ethereum was attacked, with approximately 2,900 rsETH (valued at around $7.8 million) transferred. Security firms BlockSec, Blockaid, and SlowMist pointed out that the root cause of the attack lies in an authorization check flaw within the wallet-approved Multicall contract—the contract is intended to verify caller permissions, but the vulnerability allows anyone to bypass validation simply by targeting the contract itself. The attacker subsequently moved the rsETH into a liquidity pool based on the valueless token "Permissionless Attacker Token." An automated bot named "yoink" paid approximately $47,000 to frontrun the transaction, transferring 2,882 rsETH to a separate address. rsETH issuer Kelp DAO stated that its smart contracts are secure and rsETH is fully collateralized, and has implemented a 24-hour pause measure on the relevant addresses.

Balancer Co-Founder Proposes Phasing Out the Protocol, Says v3 Revenue Growth Fell Short of Expectations

Odaily Report: Balancer Labs co-founder Marcus Hardt posted on X that he has proposed a governance proposal to gradually shut down Balancer. Balancer had previously completed a restructuring, including halting token emissions, transferring all protocol fees to the DAO, cutting the operational budget by one-third, and reducing the team from approximately 25 people to 12.5 full-time equivalents.Marcus stated that the restructuring was completed on the cost side as planned, but revenue performance fell short of expectations. Currently, most of Balancer's protocol revenue still comes from v2, and v3 revenue has not grown enough to replace v2. Previous security incidents have also continued to affect partners' willingness to adopt v3. Marcus said he can no longer see a funded path that could change the situation, and continuing to burn through treasury funds is not reasonable. Therefore, he has proposed gradually shutting down Balancer and will not lead efforts to develop a plan for continued operations. The Balancer code will remain open source, and other teams can fork it and continue development. The relevant proposal has been submitted to the governance forum, and the final decision still rests with token holders.

Bonk Guy Responds to Buying EMBER: Started Building Position at Around $7M Market Cap, Bullish on Its Launchpad Data Growth

Odaily News: Crypto trader Bonk Guy posted on X platform responding to recent controversy surrounding his purchase of EMBER and explaining his position-building logic. Bonk Guy stated that he first noticed the project when EMBER's market cap was around $3 million but did not buy in. After observing for a day, he revisited his research due to the platform's rapid data growth and bought in from around a $7 million market cap all the way up to a $20 million market cap.Bonk Guy said that EMBER is a major Launchpad built on Meteora, supporting SOL, USDC, and over 150 tokenized stocks as pairing assets for token issuance. It utilizes Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve technology and offers features such as token fee distribution, Daily Jackpots, and DAO governance.According to his disclosure, Ember has recorded approximately $51.7 million in trading volume, $561,000 in fees, and has cumulatively issued 2,041 tokens within 3 days of launch, with over 41,800 unique holder addresses and 149,000 Solana transactions. BonkGuy compared his Ember purchase to his previous PONS trade, noting that he first saw PONS when its market cap was below $1 million, similarly ignored it for a full day, and then started buying at around a $4 million market cap. Rather than whether a trending token has already emerged, what matters more is observing the real usage data underlying the Launchpad.Additionally, Bonk Guy stated that both Robinhood Chain and BNB Chain have multiple successful Launchpads, while Solana's Meme trading ecosystem has been developing for a longer time, so there is no reason to believe that Solana can ultimately only accommodate one successful Launchpad. He also stated that his trades are not based on market consensus. Some of his most successful trades in the past often came from discovering opportunities before the market formed a consensus; by the time everyone agrees, the asymmetric upside potential has usually already been significantly reduced.Regarding the recent controversy, Bonk Guy said that the claim of "EMBER having over 50% Bubblemaps address clusters" has been clarified by Bubblemaps; his earlier statement that Ember was "launched by Meteora" was also inaccurate—a more precise description is that Ember is built on Meteora-related infrastructure and has now been listed on Meteora's ecosystem page. Bonk Guy emphasized that he has no relationship with the Ember team, and EMBER is a personal trade for him.

Core DAO Plans Emergency Hard Fork as Validators Receive Excess CORE Rewards

Odaily News: Blockchain project Core DAO has announced a coordinated emergency hard fork, caused by validators receiving CORE rewards exceeding the blockchain's originally scheduled issuance. Core DAO stated that the incident is under control, malicious validators can no longer continue to obtain excess rewards, and the upgrade will not roll back the network or revoke confirmed transactions.Core DAO previously stated that a small number of validators had accumulated rewards significantly higher than the protocol's set issuance, and that the incident only involved reward distribution, with user assets remaining secure. Coinbase, Bithumb, Coinone, Bitget, and LBank had restricted CORE deposits, withdrawals, or transfers.Core DAO has not yet disclosed the amount of excess CORE issued, the duration of the related activity, whether the extra tokens entered circulation, or the cause of the vulnerability, and stated that it will publish a technical post-mortem report. All-time high: Robinhood Chain surpasses $13.05 million in cumulative fees within two months of launch

Odaily News – Just two months after its launch, Robinhood Chain has seen cumulative transaction fees rise to $13.05 million, setting a new all-time high. Based on the annualized average of the last 30 days of fee revenue, the annualized revenue scale stands at approximately $110 million. At current cumulative revenue levels, roughly $1.3 million will flow directly to the Arbitrum ecosystem. Under the cooperation licensing agreement between the two parties, Robinhood Chain is required to return 10% of its protocol net revenue to the Arbitrum ecosystem, with 8% going to the Arbitrum DAO treasury and 2% to the Arbitrum Developer Guild.

Optimism governance vote sparks controversy: 5.469 million OP tokens redirected from user airdrop to ecosystem fund

an Optimism community governance proposal has been passed, reallocating 546.9 million OP tokens originally intended for user airdrops to the "Strategic Ecosystem Fund" managed by the Optimism Foundation, sparking discussions within the community over governance transparency and user rights. The OP tokens involved in this proposal account for approximately 12.7% of the total supply, valued at around $49.7 million at current prices. The Optimism Foundation stated that as the ecosystem strategy shifts toward institutional adoption and enterprise partnerships, large-scale user airdrops no longer fully align with the current development direction, and unused tokens can be deployed for ecosystem incentives, partnership building, and enterprise-level project expansion. The vote ultimately passed with 17.974 million OP in favor and 10.931 million OP against. The pivotal turning point came 16 minutes and 52 seconds before the vote closed, when Test in Prod (delegate.testinprod-io.eth), the core development team of the Optimism ecosystem, cast 8.486 million OP in support, raising the approval ratio from 45.77% to 61.84% and ultimately pushing the proposal through.Excluding Test in Prod's vote, the proposal's support rate would stand at only 46.47%, failing to pass, and the relevant tokens would likely have remained in the user allocation pool. The Optimism Foundation previously committed to disclosing the cumulative usage of the fund and related outcomes through annual budget reports. This vote has also reignited discussions about the influence of "large delegated voting power" in DAO governance and the balance of token holder rights. (CoinDesk)

DEXE plummets 96.8% in 11 days, Ceffu transfers 797,900 DEXE to Binance, possibly linked to DWF Labs

Odaily Odaily News According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi's monitoring, DEXE reached an all-time high of $49.432 on July 12. It began to decline on July 13, and on July 21, it experienced a single-day maximum drop of 88%, with the price falling from $46.93 to $5.648. Over 11 days, the decline reached 96.8%, with the price dropping from $49.423 to $1.56. Ai Yi stated that the large on-chain fund flows were primarily from CEX hot wallets, and no anomalies were found except for those involving Ceffu. Since July 13, the custody platform Ceffu has transferred a total of 797,900 DEXE to Binance, split across 6 transactions, with a total value of $6.15 million. This makes Ceffu the only entity, besides exchanges, to move over a million dollars worth of this token. Ai Yi noted that due to the Ceffu MirrorX mechanism, DEXE held in Ceffu generates a 1:1 mirrored position on the exchange, and on-chain asset transfers are settled automatically afterward. If this mechanism was used for front-running, the actual value corresponding to the 797,900 DEXE would be $39.44 million. Ai Yi further indicated that public records do not show the DEXE project team depositing tokens with Ceffu, with most tokens being held in the DAO treasury and team-related lock-up contracts. Among DEXE's official partners, Falcon had supported DEXE as collateral on its platform. Falcon's asset custodian includes Ceffu, and Falcon Finance is associated with DWF Labs, which is also on DEXE's partner list. Ai Yi stated that the above conclusions are based on on-chain data and public clues, and it cannot be ruled out that the project team or other market makers are involved.

DeFi asset management and risk analysis company Gauntlet secures $125 million financing from Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings

According to Fortune, DeFi asset management and risk analysis company Gauntlet completed a $125 million financing round, exclusively invested by Japanese financial group SBI Holdings. The financing was completed in June this year, and the specific valuation was not disclosed. This is Gauntlet's largest financing round since its establishment in 2018, far exceeding its $24 million Series B round in 2022 led by Ribbit Capital at a $1 billion valuation. Gauntlet was founded by former Wall Street quantitative trader Tarun Chitra. It initially focused on providing stress testing and vulnerability analysis services for DeFi protocols. Later, as the DAO governance model waned, it gradually transitioned to a "treasury curation" business—assessing yield strategy risks through quantitative analysis to help institutional investors manage digital asset allocation. Currently, its clients include asset management giant Apollo, Coinbase, and stablecoin issuer Circle.

Immunefi CEO claims AI models lead to surge in crypto security vulnerabilities

Odaily, Mitchell Amador, CEO of bug bounty platform Immunefi, stated at the WAIB Summit that new AI models such as Claude Opus 4.8 and ChatGPT 5.5 are shifting the balance of cybersecurity offense and defense in favor of attackers, leading to a resurgence in crypto hacks in 2026. Data from DefiLlama shows that in April 2026, illicit actors stole over $634 million from crypto platforms, the highest monthly total since the Bybit hack in February 2025 drove losses of approximately $1.4 billion.Amador stated that the crypto industry is in a critical survival period for the next three to four years until security teams leverage similar AI models to build codebases that attackers cannot breach; if the industry adopts more crowd-sourced security solutions, this timeline could be shortened to within two years. The latest Claude Mythos model, Fable 5, from AI company Anthropic, previously raised concerns about accelerating the ability to exploit crypto vulnerabilities.Anthropic stated that Fable 5 has safeguards in place that will redirect topics related to cybersecurity and similar fields to Claude Opus 4.8. On April 19, an attacker transferred approximately 116,500 restaked Ethereum (rsETH) from Kelp DAO's LayerZero-based rsETH bridge, valued at around $290 million to $293 million at the time. Cross-chain protocol LayerZero stated that the 1/1 decentralized verification network configuration of Kelp DAO relied on a single verification path for processing cross-chain messages, creating a single point of failure. (Cointelegraph)

Aave Founder Calls Protocol "Resilient" Despite $8.45 Billion Deposit Run Exposing Risks

in April this year, KelpDAO's LayerZero bridge was exploited in a $292 million vulnerability attack, triggering an $8.45 billion deposit run on Aave within 48 hours, marking the largest capital outflow event in decentralized finance (DeFi) history. Aave founder Stani Kulechov stated that the design of Aave V3 withstood the market test, demonstrating the network's "resilience." However, independent data indicates that Aave's survival primarily relied on $300 million in emergency rescue, including a 25,000 ETH guarantee from the Aave DAO and a personal injection of 5,000 ETH (approximately $8.4 million) by Kulechov.Kulechov attributed the vulnerability to third-party infrastructure rather than core smart contracts. However, analysts pointed out that this incident exposed deficiencies in Aave's risk architecture and insurance mechanisms, leading the platform to incur significant bad debt (approximately $123.7 million in wETH). To prevent future bridge failures from triggering systemic bank runs, Aave V4 will adopt a modular "hub-and-spoke" architecture, enabling local risk auto-adjustment and collateral freezing. After a hack attack leading to an end, Radiant announces gradual shutdown

DeFi protocol Radiant has announced that after 18 months of continuous effort following a hack attack in October 2024, the DAO no longer has a viable path to continue operations and will gradually enter a "sunsetting" phase.Radiant stated that there is currently no progress in fund recovery, no new capital injection, and a lack of funds and development space to maintain normal operations. Therefore, it cannot proceed with responsible long-term operation.According to the plan, Radiant will transition to maintenance mode: the frontend interface will continue to run, on-chain smart contracts will remain accessible, and users can still withdraw, repay, and manage positions. However, the project will halt all new feature development, upgrades, and expansions. At the same time, the borrowing cap will be set to zero, incentives for issuing the RDNT token will cease, and treasury funds will be used solely to maintain basic operations. The project's future focus will be entirely on user asset security, fund recovery, and an orderly liquidation process.Radiant stated that efforts to recover assets will continue, and the relevant recovery portal will remain open. Any future recovered funds will be returned to affected users, but the outcome of the recovery remains uncertain and may take a long time. Although operations are gradually ceasing, on-chain contracts will remain available, and users need to manage their own risks and gradually exit their positions.

Kelp DAO: The execution phase of the rsETH recovery plan has been completed, and 20,400 rsETH have been transferred to the rsETH OFT adapter.

According to an official announcement, KelpDAO stated that the final batch of 20,373.72 rsETH tokens was transferred earlier today to the rsETH OFT adapter, completing the operational phase of the rsETH recovery plan.

Gate Research: Crypto Market Warms Up in April with RWA and On-Chain Capital Flow in Focus

Odaily Odaily News Gate Research recently released its "April 2026 Cryptocurrency Market Review" report, indicating that the overall cryptocurrency market saw a volatile upward trend in April, with total market capitalization significantly higher than in March. BTC and ETH ETF trading volumes maintained high volatility overall. The report shows continued divergence in activity across major public chain ecosystems. Solana's daily transaction volume remained in the range of approximately 90 million to 110 million transactions, maintaining its leading position.Regarding trending sectors, the report notes that Pokemon TCG RWA has become one of the fastest-growing on-chain RWA sub-sectors, entering a second explosive growth phase in April. Major trading platforms saw monthly trading volumes exceed $220 million, with weekly revenue briefly approaching $6 million, setting new historical records. Meanwhile, Aave experienced its most severe liquidity crisis ever in April, with TVL outflows reaching tens of billions of dollars within a few days and net outflows exceeding $9 billion for the entire month. In terms of fundraising and security incidents, the Web3 industry completed 51 financing rounds in April, totaling approximately $834 million, with capital further concentrating on leading financial and infrastructure tracks. Among these, Payward ranked first for the month with a $200 million financing round. On the security front, Web3 security incidents in April resulted in losses of approximately $306 million, a month-over-month increase of about 858%, primarily driven by a single cross-chain infrastructure attack on Kelp DAO worth approximately $293 million. The report suggests that against the backdrop of a recovering market, on-chain activity and capital liquidity are both increasing simultaneously. However, the security risks associated with cross-chain infrastructure and high-leverage protocols remain worthy of continued attention.

US Judge Approves Aave to Proceed with Transfer of $71 Million in ETH Linked to North Korean Hackers

Odaily News: Margaret Garnett, a U.S. District Judge in Manhattan, has approved Aave's asset recovery proposal, allowing the transfer of approximately $71 million in ETH previously frozen on Arbitrum and linked to North Korean-linked attacks, to a wallet controlled by Aave LLC, while preserving the legal claims of terrorism victim plaintiffs over the funds. The ruling also amended the earlier freeze notice against the Arbitrum DAO, permitting the transfer to be executed through an on-chain governance vote and exempting those who propose, vote on, or participate in the transfer from liability under the freeze order. The transfer is still subject to an official vote by Arbitrum's on-chain governance. (CoinDesk)

The Arbitrum DAO voted to release $70 million worth of ETH, but a court order has temporarily frozen the transfer.

According to The Block, the Arbitrum DAO voted to release 30,765.6 ETH (approximately $70 million), previously frozen, to support the DeFi United initiative—aimed at offsetting Kelp DAO’s $292 million exploit loss last month. The vote passed with 90.96% support (182.2 million votes). The attack was allegedly carried out by the North Korean Lazarus hacking group, which exploited a vulnerability in LayerZero’s OFT cross-chain bridge—a single-validator configuration—which allowed attackers to steal 116,500 rsETH and pledge most of the stolen assets as collateral on Aave, resulting in roughly $190 million in bad debt. DeFi United has secured contributions from multiple parties, including 30,000 ETH from Consensys and Joseph Lubin, a 30,000-ETH loan from Mantle, and 5,000 ETH from LayerZero.

Aave has liquidated the remaining rsETH position of the KelpDAO attacker, with the relevant assets to be transferred to a recovery treasury.

Aave has announced the completion of the liquidation of the remaining rsETH position belonging to the Kelp DAO attacker. The related collateral assets will be transferred to the Recovery Guardian multi-signature wallet managed by DeFi United, to be used for restoring rsETH reserves and compensating affected users. This liquidation is part of the recovery plan following the previous $292 million attack incident. Aave had previously passed a governance vote to temporarily adjust the rsETH oracle price in order to create bad debt in the attacker's position and trigger liquidation. The relevant parameters will be restored upon completion of the liquidation. Previously, the attacker exploited the Kelp DAO cross-chain bridge based on LayerZero to forge 116,500 unbacked rsETH and borrowed ETH from protocols such as Aave and Compound. Currently, the recovery funds managed by DeFi United have exceeded $320 million.

U.S. Law Firm Files for Restraining Order to Prevent Arbitrum DAO from Transferring Stolen and Frozen ETH from Kelp

According to Cointelegraph, U.S. law firm Gerstein Harrow LLP has filed an application with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York seeking a temporary restraining order and three writs of execution to prevent the Arbitrum DAO from transferring 30,766 ETH (valued at approximately $73 million) frozen following the Kelp vulnerability. The firm argues that its clients obtained default judgments against North Korea in U.S. courts in 2010, 2015, and 2016, entitling them to roughly $877 million in compensation—and contends that the stolen ETH constitutes North Korean-linked assets that should be used to satisfy those judgments. Kelp DAO suffered a $292 million hack on April 18; the attacker was identified as TraderTraitor, a subgroup of the North Korean state-sponsored hacking group Lazarus Group. Aave Labs previously proposed unfreezing the seized funds and transferring them into the “DeFi United” fund to compensate rsETH holders—but this legal action by Gerstein Harrow may significantly delay compensation for victims. Members of the Arbitrum DAO community have criticized the move, arguing it shifts the burden of North Korea’s debts onto another set of victims, thereby exacerbating the original harm. Gerstein Harrow had previously pursued litigation related to the 2023 Heco Bridge hack involving Teth

Arbitrum DAO Launches Vote to Release 30,766 ETH for Kelp Attack Aftermath

: Arbitrum DAO has initiated a governance vote to release the previously frozen 30,766 ETH to support DeFi United, a recovery plan following the Kelp DAO attack. These assets, worth approximately $71.1 million, were frozen by the Arbitrum Security Council on April 20. They were originally funds transferred to the Arbitrum network by the attacker. If the proposal passes, it will become the largest single source of funding for the DeFi United plan.In the early stage of voting, 16.9 million ARB have already been cast in support. Currently, there are no opposing votes. The voting is set to continue until May 7.
