Tether Launches Open-Source Bitcoin Mining Development Kit (MDK) to Break Vendor Lock-In

According to Tether’s official announcement, Tether officially launched the Mining Development Kit (MDK) on April 27—a fully open-source, full-stack development framework designed for Bitcoin miners and developers. MDK aims to provide a unified infrastructure control layer—from home miners to gigawatt-scale mining farms—and eliminate vendor lock-in caused by existing closed, proprietary systems. MDK adopts a modular architecture composed of two layers: MDK Core (an open-source SDK enabling real-time device control and customization) and the UI Development Kit (a standardized dashboard component library). It supports multi-platform deployment across Windows, macOS, and Linux, and is compatible with any hardware and vendor. The framework enables advanced use cases such as automated workflows, mining pool management, and AI-driven optimization.

Bitcoin Developer Paul Sztorc Plans August Launch of Hard Fork eCash, Offers 1:1 BTC Exchange, Sparks Community Controversy

Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc has announced the official launch of the Bitcoin hard fork network eCash in August this year. BTC holders will be able to exchange BTC for eCash at a 1:1 ratio after the hard fork goes live. It is reported that the Layer1 node software of the network will be a "near copy" of the Bitcoin Core client, continuing to use the SHA-256 hashing algorithm, with a reduced initial mining difficulty to attract more miners to participate. Additionally, eCash will be equipped with seven Layer2 scaling networks called "drivechains" to increase transaction throughput and support optional on-chain privacy features.Paul Sztorc stated that eCash differs from Bitcoin Cash in 2017, as it will no longer use the "Bitcoin" branding, positioning it as a long-term solution to Bitcoin's scalability and privacy issues. However, his proposal to manually redistribute a portion of Satoshi Nakamoto's approximately 1.1 million BTC to early investors has sparked strong controversy within the community. Some Bitcoin supporters criticize the move as potentially constituting "theft" and undermining Bitcoin's principles. (Cointelegraph)

Aave Proposal: Significantly Increase USDC Slope 2 to 50% to Alleviate Liquidity Crisis

According to the Aave Governance Forum, Gordon Liao, a Circle team member, has submitted an ARFC proposal recommending a two-step adjustment to the USDC interest rate model parameters on Aave v3 Ethereum Core to address the current liquidity shortage in the USDC pool. Current context: Following the rsETH incident on April 18, the USDC pool utilization has remained persistently near 100%, with available liquidity falling below $3 million. The borrowing rate has been stuck at the 14% cap for an extended period, and the pool’s total supply has contracted by approximately $60 million over the past 24 hours. As a result, the market is unable to clear via price mechanisms. The proposal’s core measures are as follows: Step 1 (to be executed immediately by Risk Administrators): Increase Slope 2 from 10% to 40%, decrease the optimal utilization rate from 92% to 87%, and temporarily suspend the Slope 2 risk oracle for USDC. Step 2 (to be completed within 5–7 days via governance vote): Further increase Slope 2 to 50% and reduce the optimal utilization rate to 85%. The proposal argues that many current borrowers are insensitive to interest rates and primarily borrow to bypass withdrawal queues and exit positions. Active leverage, meanwhile, is key to attracting new suppliers. Raising the maximum supply rate to the 40%–50% range is expected to draw in USDC liquidity within hours, driving utilization below the kink point and restoring the market’s normal clearing functionality.

Aave: WETH Reserve on Ethereum Core V3 Market Unfrozen

Odaily News Aave provided an update on the rsETH incident via the X platform, stating that the WETH reserve on the Ethereum Core V3 market has been unfrozen. Users can now supply WETH again, although its Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio remains set at 0.Meanwhile, the WETH reserves on the Ethereum Prime, Arbitrum, Base, Mantle, and Linea networks are still frozen. Aave stated that the relevant service providers will continue to advance subsequent handling and will provide synchronized updates on the progress.

Bitcoin Core Releases v31.0 Version with Improvements to Mempool Logic

Odaily News Bitcoin Core has released version v31.0. This update primarily improves the Mempool logic. Nodes can now more accurately assess the overall value of a set of related transactions to decide whether to retain, forward, or include them in a block. The impact on regular transfer users is minimal, but users employing RBF, CPFP, the Lightning Network, complex wallets, or server-side wallets may encounter changes in transaction acceptance/rejection behavior. The private transaction broadcast feature has been enhanced, supporting broadcasting sendrawtransaction via Tor/I2P, preventing recipients from obtaining the transaction initiator's IP address and geographical location.

Bitcoin Core v31.0 Officially Released

Bitcoin Core officially announced the release of Bitcoin Core v31.0. This version includes several underlying updates and improvements, primarily: upgrading the GUI framework to Qt 6.8; increasing the default database cache from 450 MiB to 1024 MiB on systems with more than 4 GB of RAM; and adding support for the `-privatebroadcast` option to enable private transaction broadcasting. Additionally, to prevent fee estimation errors, the `-paytxfee` startup option—which previously allowed setting a static transaction fee—has been completely removed; users must now rely on automatic fee estimation or specify a fee rate per transaction. Furthermore, the new version applies privacy and security filtering to commands used during wallet recovery and migration.

Pharos Unveils $PROS Tokenomics: Total Supply of 1 Billion Tokens, 6% Allocated to Community Airdrop

According to the official announcement, Layer 1 public blockchain Pharos has unveiled the tokenomics for its native token PROS, with a total supply of 1 billion tokens. The initial supply allocation is as follows: Foundation Treasury (16%), Lab Co. Treasury (9%), Team (20%), Investors (20%), Ecosystem & Community (21%—including 6% for community airdrops: 1% unlocked at TGE and 5% reserved for future community growth and airdrop incentives), and Node & Liquidity Incentives (14%). Core team members and private-sale investors are subject to a 12-month lock-up period followed by a 36-month linear vesting schedule. Certain treasury and incentive allocations extend vesting periods to 48–60 months. PROS serves multiple functions: transaction fees, PoS staking, validator participation, governance, ecosystem incentives, and potential RWA-specific use cases. The staking issuance policy adopts a phased approach: zero inflation during the first six months following mainnet launch; starting in Month 7, annual inflation is set at 5%, subject to dynamic adjustment by the Foundation based on network operational conditions.

Aave Disclosure: Depending on the loss allocation method, potential bad debt amounts could be $123.7 million or $230.1 million.

Aave risk service provider LlamaRisk has released an incident report: On April 18, 2026, the attacker exploited a vulnerability in Kelp’s LayerZero V2 Unichain-to-Ethereum rsETH routing (a 1-of-1 DVN configuration flaw), forged inbound packets, and illicitly released 116,500 rsETH from the Ethereum-side adapter. Of these, 89,567 rsETH were deposited as collateral into multiple Aave V3 markets—including Ethereum Core and Arbitrum—enabling the borrowing of approximately 82,650 WETH (valued at ~$191 million) and 821 wstETH. Currently, only 40,373 rsETH remain in the adapter, while the total claimable rsETH on the remote chain stands at 152,577—creating a substantial shortfall. Depending on the loss allocation methodology, Aave faces two potential bad-debt scenarios: - Scenario 1 (global pro-rata allocation): Estimated bad debt of ~$123.7 million, with Ethereum Core bearing the greatest pressure; - Scenario 2 (loss confined to L2s): Estimated bad debt of ~$230.1 million, with Mantle facing a WETH reserve shortfall of up to 71.45% and Arbitrum facing a 26.67% shortfall. Following the incident, Aave Protocol Guardians and Risk Administrators immediately froze rsETH/wrsETH reserves across all 11 affected markets.
