This marks the first non-crypto perpetual contract product approved by the CFTC. Kalshi was first approved to offer cryptocurrency perpetual contracts in late May of this year, and related products have since reached $44 billion in notional trading volume. Kalshi stated that gold and silver event contracts have exceeded $400 million in trading volume over the past 7 months, prompting the company to further expand its precious metals perpetual contract business. Additionally, Kalshi is also seeking to launch perpetual contracts related to US stocks, copper, and forex. (CNBC)

Record Central Bank Gold Purchases, LME Copper Prices Hit New Highs, and Middle East Developments

The People's Bank of China increased its gold holdings in August to a single-month record high, and Huawei released its next-generation chips. LME copper prices broke through a record of $14,533, the Japanese yen surged sharply, and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continued to escalate.

Cryptocurrency custody firm Copper is seeking to sell the company at a valuation of approximately $500 million.

According to CoinDesk, cryptocurrency custody firm Copper is seeking to sell the company at a valuation of approximately $500 million and has engaged Wall Street investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald to assist with the transaction. Copper’s core asset is its ClearLoop custody-based settlement system, which enables institutional clients to execute delivery versus payment (DvP) transactions without moving assets on-chain, effectively eliminating settlement risk. The company currently boasts over 1,000 active counterparties and processes over $50 billion in notional trading volume monthly. Copper had previously considered an IPO, but the broader crypto IPO market has entered a wait-and-see phase amid sluggish Bitcoin prices and the capital-attracting effect of the AI sector.
