Ripple CEO: Dutch Central Bank Took Months to Transfer $11 Billion in Gold, Which Is Exactly an Ideal Use Case for Cryptocurrency

According to Bitcoin.com, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse posted on September 4 that the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) spent several months redeploying approximately 86 tons of gold from New York and Ottawa to London, valued at roughly $11 billion. Approximately 59 tons were handled through market trades (selling in New York and buying in London), while over 27 tons were physically transported. Following the operation, DNB's share of gold reserves held in London increased from 18.1% to 32.1%, with total reserves remaining unchanged at 612.4 tons. Regarding this move, Garlinghouse noted that cryptocurrency has evolved from a $1.5 billion experiment in 2013 into a $2.7 trillion asset class today, yet the methods used by central banks to transfer value remain stuck in the 1940s. "This is the ideal use case for cryptocurrency—the ability to store and transfer value globally, instantly, securely, and at a low cost."

Bitcoin’s historical drawdowns have narrowed, while gains from cycle lows have simultaneously declined

Odaily News: Over the past 18 years, the Bitcoin market has repeatedly seen the narrative of "this time is different," yet the structure of each cycle has largely continued. Analyst Willy Woo noted that as the supply shock from halvings diminishes, Bitcoin may be transitioning from a four-year cycle to a six-to-eight-year cycle, although this assessment cannot yet be confirmed. In previous cycles, gains from the low point to the next all-time high were approximately 580x, 130x, 22x, and 8x, respectively. Analyst James Check pointed out that Bitcoin’s price floor has risen each cycle, while its peak has remained relatively stable. Jesse Myers stated that BTC may have just entered a two-to-three-year bull market. (Bitcoin.com News)

SEC to Determine Confidentiality and Review Speed of Crypto ETF Filings, Grayscale, A16z and Others Split with Jane Street, Charles Schwab

Odaily News The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has published responses to its request for comments on "Novel ETFs," funds that may hold crypto assets or employ unconventional strategies. The divergence in opinions centers on whether filing documents should remain public before the fund begins trading, and how fast the review process should be.Crypto asset manager Grayscale and the crypto policy organization Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI) support an optional confidential filing period to reduce the likelihood of competitors submitting imitation filings. Charles Schwab opposes full confidentiality and suggests disclosing filings at least 75 days before a fund launches.Grayscale requests the SEC to respond within 45 days, while CCI argues that the confidential process should not extend the automatic effectiveness or review deadlines. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) supports shortening the review timeline but emphasizes that the rigor of the review should not be reduced. Trading firm Jane Street, however, contends that accelerating the process could lead to lower product quality, competitiveness, and liquidity. The U.S. currently has 174 ETFs related to crypto assets. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) manages approximately $61 billion in assets, accounting for roughly 38% of the total assets of related ETFs. The SEC will determine whether adjustments will be made to the confidentiality arrangement and review speed of filings. (Bitcoin.com News)
