Haute-Savoie, France: Cryptocurrency Kidnapping Case Solved, Five Suspects Arrested

A crypto-related violent kidnapping took place in Taninges, Haute-Savoie, France. Late on the night of March 14 this year, two masked men broke into the residence of a 48-year-old woman, bound and beat her for several hours, attempted to seize her cryptocurrency assets, and then tried to forcibly abduct her. Suffering severe injuries, the victim managed to escape through sheer survival instinct and sought help from neighbors. The case is overseen by the Lyon Interdistrict Specialized Judicial Authority (JIRS) and has been assigned to the Chambéry Gendarmerie Search Brigade for investigation. Following a six-month intensive probe, police carried out coordinated operations in early September across the Île-de-France region, Isère department, and Brittany, mobilizing over 60 gendarmes to successfully arrest five suspects in their early twenties. Four were formally charged, while three remain detained pending trial. This incident marks the third violent extortion case targeting cryptocurrency holders in the Savoie region within a year.
