London Stock Exchange to launch UK tokenized equity structure and partner with Payward

The London Stock Exchange announced plans to introduce a tokenized equity structure in the UK and partner with financial infrastructure platform Payward to explore how regulated market infrastructure and digitally native distribution models can support the development of the tokenized public equity market. The initiative aims to expand access to capital markets while preserving the shareholder rights, investor protections, and governance standards of existing public markets. The exchange will also assess the application of the London Stock Exchange Group's digital securities depository system for settlement and asset services, which remains subject to regulatory approval.
