According to TTV News, Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama has passed away at the age of 97. Renowned for her iconic visual language of polka dots, pumpkins, and mirrored spaces, she is one of the most internationally influential contemporary artists in post-war Japan.
Her notable works include the immersive installation Infinity Mirrored Room – The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away, the Naoshima public art installations Yellow Pumpkin and Red Pumpkin, the mirrored sphere installation The Narcissus Garden, the soft sculpture Accumulation No. 1, and the interactive installation Melting Room.
