Albuquerque Bans Cryptocurrency ATMs, Requires Operators to Remove Devices Within 45 Days

Source: decrypt.co
According to Decrypt, the Albuquerque city council in New Mexico has passed an ordinance banning cryptocurrency ATMs and cashier-assisted virtual currency transactions within the city, requiring operators and retailers hosting the devices to remove them within 45 days. Council members stated that approximately 90% of local cryptocurrency ATM transactions are linked to fraud. Due to the instant, anonymous, and irreversible nature of the transactions, these machines are considered highly vulnerable to exploitation by scammers and organized crime.
