SK Telecom Establishes "SK Horizon" and Secures 3 Trillion Won Investment, Prompting Reevaluation of AIDC Business Value
According to Yonhap, SK Telecom announced it will spin off the data center and submarine cable businesses of its subsidiary SK Broadband to establish a specialized AI data center (AIDC) company named "SK Horizon," raising a total of 3.08 trillion Korean won from global private equity firm KKR and a domestic IMM consortium. Following the transaction, SK Telecom will hold a 51% stake in SK Horizon, while KKR and the IMM consortium will hold 29% and 20%, respectively. In response, Mirae Asset Securities has raised its target price for SK Telecom from 120,000 Korean won to 150,000 Korean won, maintaining a "Buy" rating.
