Kraken has restricted accounts linked to a suspected theft of over $133 million in crypto assets involving an unnamed European institution, and is cooperating with law enforcement on fund recovery efforts. Kraken stated that the incident did not originate from its platform, its security systems were not compromised, and customer accounts were not taken over.Previously, on-chain investigator ZachXBT found that the suspected stolen amount had increased by another $27 million compared to the previously disclosed $106 million. Bitquery data shows that approximately $62.98 million in stablecoins were converted into 27,553 ETH within about 4 hours. Kraken, Crypto.com, and OKX were all reported to be involved in the related fund flows, with Crypto.com having taken measures to prevent the relevant funds from being transferred through its platform, while OKX said it is investigating. As of the statistical point cited in the report, about $78.3 million remained in wallets associated with the attacker, while another approximately $30.5 million had been transferred out. The identity of the victim and ZachXBT's speculation that a major Western European financial institution was attacked and attempted to cover up the incident have not been confirmed. (Cointelegraph)
