Bhutan's Gelephu City entrusts Canadian 3iQ to manage part of its Bitcoin treasury, advancing the development of a digital asset offshore financial center.

According to Cointelegraph, Bhutan's special administrative region Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) announced it has commissioned Canadian digital asset management company 3iQ to manage a portion of its Bitcoin treasury, with the specific scale undisclosed. This collaboration is a continuation of the plan announced by Bhutan in December 2025—at that time, Bhutan announced it would allocate up to 10,000 BTC from its state-held Bitcoin to support the development and construction of Gelephu City. Under the latest agreement, 3iQ will manage the relevant assets institutionally and establish a long-term operational presence locally, investing in local talent development and knowledge transfer.
