According to Caixin Global, U.S. President Trump announced on social media on the 25th that he had canceled the trip by U.S. representatives to Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, for a meeting with Iranian officials. Trump stated that the trip would “waste too much time on travel” and claimed that Iran’s leadership was experiencing “internal disputes and chaos.” He added that the U.S. side “holds all the cards,” and if Iran wishes to negotiate, it can “simply call directly.” Trump had previously informed the media that the planned trip to Pakistan by his special envoy Witkoff and his son-in-law Kushner for U.S.-Iran negotiations had been canceled. He said he had told both men, “There’s no need to fly 18 hours just to sit around and talk idly.” (CCTV News)
