Coinbase CSO Philip Martin Announces Departure After a Decade of Service; Leadership Transition to New Head of Security

Philip Martin, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Coinbase, announced he will officially step down at the end of June 2026. Martin joined Coinbase in April 2016 as employee #50+ and, over his decade-long tenure, led the development of the company’s security framework. He expressed gratitude to the security team and company leadership, and confirmed that current Head of Security J. Lunglhofer will succeed him as CSO, calling him the “clear successor.”
