AMC CEO requests Robinhood to stop trading AMC stock tokens

Source: x.com Event types: Financing/Fundraising
AMC CEO Adam Aron issued a post responding to Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, stating that his concerns over Robinhood’s stock tokens are “almost a matter of corporate survival.” He emphasized that U.S. securities laws are designed to protect investors, noting that AMC allocates substantial annual resources to maintain regulatory compliance. He questioned how Robinhood, as a U.S.-based company, can establish operations in Jersey—far outside U.S. jurisdiction—and market securities that essentially “masquerade as AMC” while evading U.S. securities regulations. Aron argued that the “fictional synthetic equity market” engineered by Robinhood severs stock token ownership from a company’s control over its own financing capabilities; these tokens do not constitute genuine equity and strip investors of core shareholder rights, including voting privileges. He called on Robinhood to voluntarily cease trading AMC stock tokens, warning that failure to do so would prompt AMC to pursue legal action to enforce a halt, and confirmed he would escalate the issue to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
