a16z Co-Invests in Dream, an AI Architecture Design Company Founded by Former Palantir Founders, as it Completes $17 Million Seed Round
According to TNW, San Francisco-based startup Dream has emerged from stealth, announcing the closing of a $17 million seed funding round. The investors include Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), SV Angel, XYZ, and Zigg Capital. Dream was co-founded by Andy Elder and Arjun Mathur, who each spent around a decade working at Palantir.
The company develops an "architectural world model," trained using over 100 million square feet of permitted U.S. building data. The model understands the spatial relationships between building components, such as the routing of HVAC ducts through walls. The company states that the precision of the drawings generated by the model is sufficient for contractors to proceed directly with construction. Early operations will focus on commercial projects, including retail stores, offices, and data centers.
