Republican Ron DeSantis Elected Florida Governor

According to PBS NewsHour Politics, Republican Congressman Byron Donalds defeated Democrat David Jolley on Tuesday to be elected Florida governor, becoming the state’s first Black governor and set to become the first elected Black Republican governor in the United States. In his victory speech, Donalds thanked Trump for his support and stated that Florida “remains red.” He will succeed current Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. Reports indicated that the election race exceeded expectations in competitiveness, as Jolley, a former Republican congressman, switched parties and ran as a centrist.
