CZ Responds to College Student Entrepreneurship: Work at a Reputable Large Company for a Few Years First; Young People Should Develop a Specialized Skill

At a closed-door sharing session in Hong Kong, Binance founder CZ emphasized when addressing questions about college students starting businesses that there is no need to rush. He advised young people to first work at a reputable large company for a few years, stating that “two years should be the minimum,” with an optimal duration of two to five years. Citing his own four-year tenure at Bloomberg, he noted that the comprehensive management systems within large corporations are inaccessible to those who launch startups immediately after graduation, yet they prove highly valuable for future entrepreneurial endeavors. CZ stressed that young people must prioritize developing a specialized skill. He remarked, “We live in a globally competitive world. If you just say ‘programming,’ there are tens of millions of programmers worldwide. It’s unrealistic to expect being twice as good as everyone else. But if you can rank among the top 1%, or even the top 0.1% globally, your compensation could be several, dozens, or even hundreds of times greater than that of others. The disparity in rewards between first place and second place is stark.”
