DTCC tokenization service officially launches, initially supporting 34 securities
According to the DTCC official website page, the DTCC Tokenization Service has officially launched, with 34 types of securities available for tokenization at launch. DTC currently holds approximately $30 trillion in custody assets, with tokens backed 1:1 by securities held by DTC, carrying the same legal and ownership rights as the underlying securities. Tokenized assets share a single CUSIP, enabling 24/7 on-chain peer-to-peer transfers between wallets registered with DTC. The service incorporates built-in compliance controls that support near real-time ownership tracking. It currently connects to approved blockchain networks including Besu and Canton Network, with the page indicating that additional networks are scheduled to join in 2027.
