According to CNBC, U.S. Treasury yields edged higher on Monday amid renewed tensions between the United States and Iran. Specifically, the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.267%, the 2-year yield climbed to 3.73%, while the 30-year yield remained largely unchanged.
Earlier, Iran announced on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open to commercial shipping, but on Saturday it reasserted control over passage through the strait. U.S. President Trump stated that U.S.-Iran negotiations would resume on Monday in Islamabad, Pakistan; however, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said there are currently no plans for a second round of talks with the United States. Investors this week will also monitor crude oil inventory data and initial jobless claims.
