The Trump family has been granted “permanent” exemption from existing tax audits.

According to the Financial Times, under an agreement, the U.S. tax authority is prohibited from filing lawsuits against Donald Trump, his eldest son, and the Trump Organization to block the president’s $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Department of Justice made this commitment on Tuesday—one day after Trump agreed to settle his lawsuit against the IRS in exchange for the U.S. government establishing an $1.8 billion fund to assist victims of so-called “legal wars.”
