According to official announcements by SBI Shinsei Trust & Banking and SBI VC Trade, 1 billion yen of the reserve trust assets for "JPYSC," Japan's first domestic trust-based Japanese yen stablecoin, has begun being allocated to short-term government bonds. Under the amended Funds Settlement Act, which officially takes effect on June 1, 2026, this measure permits trust-based stablecoin reserve assets to be invested in short-term government bonds or time deposits with maturities of three months or less, up to a cap of 50% of the total issuance volume, subject to specific conditions.
As of September 7, 2026, the outstanding issuance of JPYSC stood at approximately 20.1 billion yen. Including the balance of the "JPYSC Lending" service at roughly 6.9 billion yen, the combined total reaches approximately 27 billion yen. The two companies stated they will continue to expand JPYSC's use across domestic and cross-border payment settlements, on-chain foreign exchange markets, and settlements for RWA-tokenized assets. Through the management and deployment of high-credit yen assets, they aim to foster a new capital circulation model bridging digital finance and traditional financial markets.
