ChatGPT and Roblox will be included in the EU's strictest content regulation framework

According to Bloomberg, OpenAI's ChatGPT and gaming platform Roblox are set to be officially designated as "Very Large Online Platforms" (VLOP) by the EU executive body under the Digital Services Act (DSA), as both have surpassed the 45 million monthly active user threshold in the EU. Insiders revealed that the designation is expected to take effect as early as August. Once designated, the two companies will face stricter regulatory requirements, including content moderation obligations, algorithm transparency requirements, and systemic risk assessments, with violations potentially incurring fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue.
