Australia to Advance New Energy Regulations for AI Data Centers as Queensland Shifts to Support

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he has secured agreement from state and territory leaders, including Queensland which had previously opposed the proposal, to advance new regulations on energy use for AI data centers, targeting their implementation next year. Australia’s Federal Cabinet has agreed to set minimum requirements for data centers regarding their use of electricity, water, and land.
