According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean payment technology company Toss Payments has been listed as a priority negotiation partner for the "Deposit Token-based Payment Infrastructure Expansion Project" promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The project aims to reduce the payment fee burden for small and micro merchants by extending the institutional central bank digital currency (CBDC) deposit token pilot experience verified in the Bank of Korea's "Han River Project" to the private payment environment.
