Source: content-static.cctvnews.cctv.com
Odaily News According to the Syrian Petroleum Company on the 15th, the first batch of Iraqi "re-exported" oil began loading at the Banias Port refinery in Syria that day. Due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq's oil exports have been obstructed, and transshipment through Syria has become one of the alternative solutions. Syrian Petroleum Company Deputy Director Ahmed Al-Kubaji stated at a press conference on the 15th that, according to the agreement reached between Syria and Iraq, Iraqi oil is first transported by truck to the Banias refinery, then transferred to the port's oil terminal, and subsequently exported by sea. The first oil tanker will load approximately 500,000 tons of oil, and the loading operation will take at least three days. Al-Kubaji said that according to the bilateral agreement, Syria can extract the amount of oil needed for its power plants from the Iraqi oil shipments, with the remainder being delivered for export.
