Telegram CEO Calls WhatsApp’s End-to-End Encryption “Massive Consumer Fraud”

Source: x.com
According to Cointelegraph, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov labeled WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption a “massive consumer fraud.” He pointed out that approximately 95% of private messages ultimately end up in unencrypted backups stored on Apple and Google servers. Durov argued that this situation jeopardizes users’ privacy and security—despite WhatsApp’s claim that its message transmission employs end-to-end encryption, its backup mechanism fails to ensure full encryption of user data. His remarks have drawn industry attention to the privacy protection measures adopted by mainstream messaging applications.
