Reform UK leader returns to Parliament, calls prior crypto donation investigation unfair

Source: www.independent.co.uk Event types: Regulation/Compliance
According to the UK's The Independent, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, after winning the Clacton by-election and returning to Parliament, commented on an investigation by the Commons Standards Committee into his failure to disclose a £5 million donation from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne, questioning the committee's composition for alleged partisan bias. Farage stated that the donation was personal in nature, intended to cover his private security costs, and therefore did not require prior disclosure. Foresight News previously reported that in July, Farage stated he would resign his seat and seek re-election once it was confirmed that Parliament would launch an investigation into cryptocurrency-related donations. The probe concerns contributions from Christopher Harborne and George Cottrell, with Farage personally denying any wrongdoing.
