Ethereum plans to enable users to pay gas fees without holding ETH in the 2027 Hegotá upgrade.
According to CoinDesk, Ethereum developers have incorporated EIP-8141 "Sponsored Transactions" into the Hegotá upgrade scheduled for 2027. This feature aims to enable users to execute on-chain transactions without holding ETH, allowing applications or other accounts to pay gas fees on their behalf, or to settle associated costs using assets like stablecoins.
