Approved to Hold Bitcoin and Other Crypto Assets, Bhutan's New Gelephu Central Bank Can Include Them in Reserves

Bitcoin News posted on X stating that a royal decree signed by Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck grants Gelephu's new financial regulator full central bank functions, including monetary policy and reserve management. The bank is authorized to include digital assets alongside traditional reserves in its investment scope, though it is not obligated to purchase them; Bhutan's national central bank, the Royal Monetary Authority, remains unchanged. Gelephu Mindfulness City had previously received a commitment from the King made in December 2025 to support it with up to 10,000 BTC.
